Memory Verse: He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth the needy out of the dunghill; That he may set him with princes, even with the princes of his people. Psalm 113:7-8

Adeola is the first black to obtain a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan, Canada. Let us draw some life lessons from her.

1. She Refused To Be A Spoilt Brat: As the last born, she could have chosen to be a spoilt brat whom her parents pamper but instead, she decided to give life a good fight by revolting against her foundation of poverty.

2. She Hated Poverty with Perfect Hatred: She did not allow her background to put her on the ground. She rebelled against her background. Many are tired about their situation but are not ready to fight for a desired change. The secret of success is sweat.

3. She Was Determined And Highly Focused: Imagine the time she spent applying to over 100 schools for her PhD. She was dogged, resolute, persistent, stubborn and dogmatic in making a success out of her life and academics. What about you?

4. She Was Very Humble: A Master’s Degree student working as a cleaner? That’s humility! Humility releases grace (James 4:6). There’s no price too much to pay for good success. Many teenagers and youths of these days brood excessively over their predicament instead of breaking through it.

5. She Was Very Industrious: Beloved, it is very strenuous working and studying at the same time. I applaud Adeola as a very valiant woman of courage to successfully combine both.
