Bible Reading: Mark 2:22, Isaiah 43:19
Memory Verse: For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland. Isaiah 43:19 (NLT)
The first characteristics of the Holy Spirit we learnt about is movement. Genesis 1:2a says, “…And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.” This understanding is very profound to your Christian pilgrimage. While God is in the present tense doing a new thing, many of us, His creatures, are in the past tense still grumbling and ruminating about the lost pregnancy, lost job, lost opportunity, the recent break-up, collapsed business, etc. Friends, like Pastor Nathaniel Bassey said in one of his songs, “…go where the Spirit goes.” You see, sometimes, when God wants to take you to the next mountain of exploits and glory, you need to travel down from the present mountain where you are at the moment before you can start to climb to the new mountain He has prepared for you. For many of us, we wail, weep, cry, grumble and murmur on our way down because we can’t phantom God’s intention.
Yes, the loss may be painful. Imagine a woman who has just lost a pregnancy. But, this is the only time God can truly demonstrate that He gives double for every trouble. Isaiah 61:7 (BSB), “Instead of shame, My people will have a double portion, and instead of humiliation, they will rejoice in their share; and so they will inherit a double portion in their land, and everlasting joy will be theirs.“
Yes, you have just lost a big client. Perhaps he has suddenly turned himself to a god. Friend, God will not share His glory over your business with a mortal man. Painful as it may be, let him go. A God-fearing business partner is on the way. Soonest, you will start making money in foreign currencies.
Hi friend, perhaps your fiancé or fiancée of several years have just broken up with you. Still, rejoice evermore. A broken courtship is better than a broken marriage. Someone who will love you for who you are is coming your way soon.
God’s servant, Pastor E.A Adeboye once prayed for one of his sons who desired to contribute a fortune to the work of God in his hands. Suddenly, this spiritual son lost his job. He cried back to the man of God. The man of God told him that he cannot become a kingdom financier holding to his present job. Hence, the angels of the Lord had to close that door for a bigger door to open. Mark 2:22 (NIV), “And no one pours new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the wine will burst the skins, and both the wine and the wineskins will be ruined. No, they pour new wine into new wineskins.”
Brethren, there are friends, colleagues, relationships, contacts, helpers, and big-wigs in your present sphere of influence that are not going into the new place God has prepared for you. While you may not have to bang the present door of relationship against them (perhaps you may need them in the future), at the moment, you must have to gently close the door to such relationship. There are people God sends to you for a lifetime, and there are others He sends to you only for a season. Be discerning. Go where the Spirit of God goes. Stay where the Spirit of God stays. Think on these things.
Quote: There’s such a thing as, “break-up for a come-up.”
