Bible Reading: Gen. 5: 24-27, Mat. 5:13-16
Memory Verse: So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto
wisdom. Psalm 90:12

Methuselah is the oldest man ever recorded in the Bible. The oldest man who ever
walked on this planet. He lived for 969 years. Yet, he had no traceable landmark
achievement. Oh… does that mean age is not wisdom? It is not how long you live but how
well. Life is not in the number of years but in the quality of impact and contribution. He
lived for about a millennium and nothing outstanding was he able to do.

Ironically, he was a child of prophesy. Enoch is a father who walked with God must have
known this hence, deliberately called him by such name. Methuselah means “when he
dies, judgement” and interestingly enough, Methuselah died in the same year God
judged the sinful world with the great flood of Noah’s day. However, he did nothing to
avert the destruction of the earth. He made no invention, gave no prophecy, and gave
no call for repentance in his day. Hardly can you find his name in any other book of the
Bible except in Genesis and once in passing in 1Chronicles 1:3. Permit me to say he
existed but never truly lived. Living is giving.
Jesus lived for 33 years only and the effect of His impact is still speaking. He did not only
live and made trans-generational impact, He also replicated Himself. He equipped and
mentored disciples who turned the world upside down and multiplied all that He did
(Acts 17:6).
I hope you are not wearing the shoes of Mr. Methuselah? What value are you adding to
your family? Does your Parents, siblings, friends and neighbours treasure your
contributions? Do not wait to do big things. Do those small things in a big way. Do those
seemingly small things in an excellent manner. How well do you wash the dishes at
home? Do you sweep the floor shabbily? Do you speak with your mates and make them
feel inferior because you are from a wealthy home? Live with this one thing in mind : I
MUST CONTRIBUTE MEANINGFULLY TO MY GENERATION.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Joshua 22 – 24

Quote: You are the salt of the earth and light to the world.

Prophetic Decree: You will not die uncelebrated in Jesus name.

Prayer Focus:

  1. Thank God for His Word to you this day.
  2. I reject every Methuselah’s anointing in the name of Jesus.
  3. I curse any power pressing down my head from being lifted up in Jesus name.
