Bible Reading: Luke 15: 11-24
Memory Verse: We love Him because He first loved us. 1 John 4:19 (NKJV)
The chorus from the award winning song, “Reckless Love” reads: Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God. Oh, it chases me down, fights ’til I’m found, leaves the 99. And I couldn’t earn it. I don’t deserve it, still You give yourself away. Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God.
The overwhelming love of God has been trying to reach out to you from January till date, but you keep avoiding Him. God left the 99 sheep to come for you, yet you keep disowning Him. Can’t you see Him? Can’t you feel His presence? Can’t you feel His Shekinah? After all the terrible things you have done, yet, He still loves you more than you can ever think. Why? Because you are His. There are many who haven’t done half of what you did, and they are long forgotten. How can this God reach out to a man who personally supervised the killings of many Christians? What an overwhelming love! How can this God reach out to a one-time monster who killed the only child of a couple who had been waiting for the fruit of the womb for over 12 years? Simply, overwhelming love! His love is palpable, feelable, and transferable. Wouldn’t you accept it? Remember the last time you were almost killed in a fatal accident? You remember the last time armed robbers came looking for your life? You remember how He saw you through that season of financial embarrassment and debt? Yet, this good Lord keep longing for your soul.
Perhaps you are in a backsliding state, and you have given up on God. Well, the good news is that He has not given up on you. Perhaps you are saying, “Where was God when the landlord ejected my family and I out of the house? Where was God when I was sacked without my pension and gratuity? Where was God when I lost my pregnancy? Where was God when my mates were gaining admission into the University but I couldn’t despite all my Christian service? Friends, God was in the the same place He was when all the 12 apostles were tortured and killed most shamefully. You don’t seems to understand the way of greater glory. If you fail in the days of adversity, your strength is small. If you fail to be a partaker of His suffering, how then do you become a partaker of His glory? Don’t fail the test of a greater glory. Rededicate your life to Christ. Come back to the embrace of His overwhelmingly love. Welcome back home.
Quote: Ever wondered what God meant when He said: “I will not leave you nor forsake you”?
