Bible Reading: Ephesians 6: 1-4

Memory VerseTeach a child to choose the right path, and when he is older, he will remain upon it. Proverbs 22:6 (TLB)

He is a son of a Pastor. His Parents were deep into ministry work. To the glory of God, he became the first child to be admitted into the University to study Medicine. One day while on campus, his friend introduced a substance to him. As he sniffed it, “he felt so good”. Little did he know that he had just begun a journey into cultism. In his sincere but awkward naivety, the next day, he ordered for more. Dear Parents, while it is good to show your children the way of the Lord, we must also teach them how to discern evil friends.

Another day, his friend told him to follow him to the back of the campus at night. As they entered deep into the bush, he saw some guys dressed in a uniform. That day, he was initiated into the cult against his will. He travelled back home immediately to have a word with his parents about the strange things happening to him. His father said when he comes back from the church they will talk, while his mother rebuffed him thinking he’s come for money. At that stage of his life, he used to have little courage to express himself.

Both parents further killed his ability to talk with them when they came back from Church service tired. He cried all through the night. In the morning when they asked him what he wanted to say to them, he had lost interest, and his mind was made up to continue his new found life. Parents, may we not be busy but guilty. Our family is our first ministry, and not the Church. Our family is the first Church we must attend to.

Soon, he went wild – womanizing, drug addiction, armed robbery, etc. At 300 level he was rusticated yet his parents didn’t know. They assumed to their own detriment that their child was pious. They never for once visited him in the hostel. Finally, on a particular day after a special thanksgiving in Church, he, together with his gang decided to rob the celebrant. On this day, he was caught. By divine providence, all except him were burnt by the vigilantes. His very strict religious father disowned him afterwards openly in a Church service.

I’m sure you will think he will repent after God had gracious granted him a second chance. No, he didn’t. When his father disowned him, he went full fledge into crime. Dear Parents, though your children might have brought shame to your name, please learn to forgive. There are many wolves waiting to befriend them in this wicked world should you give space to the fire kindled by the devil.

Prophetic Decree: You will not be busy but guilty in Jesus name.

Prayer Focus

1. Thank you Father for the children you have given me.

2. I receive wisdom to guide my children aright in this changing world.

3. The devil and his cohorts that couldn’t get me in ministry shall not prey on any of my children, in Jesus name.

4. I refuse to esteem the Church ministry above the family ministry, in Jesus name.

5. O Lord, judge the accuser of brethren searching for the head of any of my children as vengeance done against his kingdom, in Jesus name.
