Cleanliness is next to godliness. Our God is a holy God and expect us to be holy. The
soldiers who crucified Jesus would not have divided his garment amongst themselves if
it was tattered and dirty (John 19:23). Jesus had good personal hygiene. Personal
hygiene is the action, habit, or practice of keeping oneself clean, especially as a means of
maintaining good health. Good personal hygiene is essential to promoting good health.
Personal hygiene habits such as washing your hands and brushing and flossing your
teeth will help keep bacteria, viruses, and illnesses at bay.
Dirty clothes and underwear, stinking socks, unwashed mouth, wet stinking shoes and
sandals, dirty toilets and bathroom, unkempt finger nails, untreated hair and unwashed
plates are some of the avenues by which bacteria and virus infection comes invade our
health. How many days do you wear your boxers, pants and singlet? Now you know why
you have itches in those sacred parts of your body.
The devil is referred as Beelzebub meaning king of flies. Flies are dirty insects. As such,
all children of God must learn to be clean and hygienic. Did you wash your hands before
bringing down that mountain of Eba (cassava flour)? No wonder you had running
stomach. Bacteria from your unwashed hands caused that.
If you sweat profusely, learn have your bath 2-3 times daily. You could also apply
deodorants to your armpit. Do not repel your friends and perhaps your destiny helpers
with your offensive sweaty body. For those with mouth odours, prayerfully visit a
dentist. Manage yourself effectively.
Poor hygiene practices and inadequate sanitary conditions play major roles in the
increased burden of communicable diseases.
