Bible Reading: 1 Corinthians 6: 18 – 20

Introduction

The dictionary defines pornography as the printed or visual material containing the explicit description or display of sexual organs or activity, intended to stimulate sexual excitement. Sex, as depicted in the Bible, is a gift from God, meant to be enjoyed within the sacred covenant of marriage. Pornography distorts this design, objectifying individuals and focusing solely on physical gratification, devoid of love and commitment.

Porn also fuels sinful desires. Christian teachings emphasize the concept of original sin, a tendency towards actions contrary to God’s will. Pornography can fuel these desires, leading to lust, envy, and other harmful behaviours. Indulging in pornography can create a barrier between individuals and God, hindering spiritual growth and intimacy with the divine.

Statistics

Research suggests high exposure to pornography among young adults, with studies indicating rates exceeding 80% in some demographics.

Negative Impacts

Studies link pornography use to increased depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, and lower self-esteem.

Addiction

Pornography can be highly addictive, impacting brain chemistry and leading to compulsive behaviour and difficulty controlling usage.

Causes

I. Curiosity and Peer Pressure: In adolescence, curiosity about sexuality and peer pressure to conform to perceived norms can lead to exposure to pornography.

II. Easy Accessibility: The internet and smartphones provide readily available access to a vast array of pornographic content, making it difficult to avoid.

III. Unhealthy Relationships: Lack of healthy emotional connections and unrealistic expectations about sex can fuel the search for fulfillment through pornography.

4. Altar of self destruction from my father’s house, catch fire, in Jesus name.

5. I receive the grace for self-denial in Jesus name.
