Bible Reading: 2 Timothy 3:16
Memory Verse: Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV)
Credit to the grace of God upon Pastor Emeka. Question: “Pastor, it’s been a year since my son got clean from addiction to Marijuana, but he’s been living an inactive and isolated life ever since. We’ve taken him everywhere and even changed environment for him, but all to no avail. What do we do?”
Answer: Oh wow! I’m so sorry about the situation but thank God he’s gained the first level of freedom. That’s right! That freedom he got is only physical, he still needs to be free both spiritually and psychologically.
The reason why he’s currently inactive and lives an isolated life is because his psychology has been affected. When I say his psychology has been affected, I simply mean the mental, emotional, and behavioural characteristics that make up his lifestyle has been altered. If you say you’ve taken him everywhere, then you probably mean that you’ve tried to apply a psychological approach to solving the problem.
Meanwhile, we mustn’t be ignorant of spiritual things. Just because a person has been cleansed from a demonic habit does not mean that the demon cannot come back. We understand from scriptures that when a demon is cast out of a person, it would keep wondering about in search of another home.
And if it discovers that the place it was previously cast out from is empty, it would go for re-enforcement and possess that body with even greater demons, such that the new state of the person will be worse than the former. So yes, your son may be free, but he’s clearly empty. And being empty is a risk in the realm of the spirit. To fix this and get him free indeed, then he needs to do these two things:
- Repent and rededicate his life to Christ: This is to ensure that his spirit man is renewed and active. We understand from scriptures that if any man be in Christ, he’s a new creature, old things are past away and all things become new (2 Cor. 5:17). With a renewed spirit, he’d have better chances of fighting his way through to recovery. You’d recall that after God created man, He breathe into man for man to become a living soul. That’s what happens at salvation, God’s Spirit is released upon ours and we begin to walk in the newness of life.
2. Meditate on the word of God: One of the things I’ve discovered about God’s word is that it has capacity to run both preventive and corrective maintenance on an individual. According to 2 Timothy 3:16, the word of God is our life’s maintenance tool. The more you study the word of God and other related anointed materials the healthier you become.
Quote: The spiritual controls the physical.
Prophetic Decree: The remnant of the aftermath of hard drugs in my life is washed off by the Blood of Jesus, in Jesus name.
