Bible Reading: Colossians 3:5-6, 1 Corinthians 10:13
Memory Verse: Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. Luke 9:23 (NKJV)
God has given you the power to rule and dominate all things – the devil, the world, the flesh, and sin. How then do you appropriate this?:
- Feast on the Word (1 Peter 2:2): “Read your Bible pray everyday’ is more than a primary school rhyme. That’s the way to spiritual growth. A child cannot grow without milk. Likewise, a Christian cannot grow without Spirit meat. That Spirit meat is the Word of God. You can start with the New Testament books – Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John popularly called the epistles as the Holy Spirit directs you. Yes, you can! Some old sins will automatically drop off as you soak your spirit man with the Word of God.
- Prayer (Luke 18:1): How do you learn to pray? By praying. You learn how to pray by praying. Come before God’s throne in brokenness, worship Him, thank Him, and make your petitions known unto Him. Be simple as you can. Don’t be intimidated by those who pride themselves of spending long hours with God. It is a growth process. You will get there someday. Just start. Certain habits will not die in your life until you pour out your soul in prayers unto God. Prayer is more than talking to God, you are purging your spirit, soul and body with the Spirit of God. You are downloading eternity into your corrupt humanity when you pray. It is a transference of Zoe – the God kind of life into your human vessel.
- Fellowship with other believers: Two is better than one for they will have a good reward for their labour. Please never walk alone. Nature abhors vacuum. Old sins such as masturbation, pornography, etc, always wants to resurface. Stay in fellowship with other believers in all holiness. Join a group, a unit, and a house fellowship. Build a community of fellow believers around you.
6. Fear of God (Ecclesiastes 12:13): Those who live above the dictates of their flesh are definitely those who fear the Lord. They hold the Lord in awe. When their flesh is telling them to smoke with their peers, steal, eat instead of fast, watch porn, fornicate with another person’s spouse, like Joseph, their spirit repel such, saying, “How can I do these things and sin against the Lord” (Gen. 39:9).
Quote: The raging battle between the flesh and the spirit may never stop in time. Who shall you daily yield unto?
Prophetic Decree: Receive power to rule over your flesh, in Jesus name.
Prayer Focus
1. Today, I choose to yield my body to the dictates of my spirit, in Jesus name.
2. When my flesh comes like a flood, the Spirit of God will raise a standard against it, in Jesus name.
3. Holy Spirit, please empower me to conquer my flesh daily, in Jesus name.
4. Wisdom of ages, overshadow my life, in Jesus name.
5. O Lord, break me and mould me to what you want me to be, in Jesus name.
