RAISING GODLY AND SMART CHILDREN IN THE 21ST CENTURY (1)

Bible Reading: Deuteronomy 6: 6-7

Memory Verse:  Train up a child in the way he should go [teaching him to seek God’s wisdom and will for his abilities and talents], Even when he is old he will not depart from itProverbs 22:6 (AMP)

Raising godly, smart children in the 21st century requires intentionality, especially with the fast pace of technology, cultural shifts, and spiritual distractions. Here’s a detailed list to guide you:

1. Build a Solid Spiritual Foundation: “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6

a. Start with early Bible reading and devotionals.

b. Teach them to pray, hear God, and trust the Holy Spirit.

c. Model a personal, living relationship with Christ.

d. Involve them in church, youth groups, and age-appropriate discipleship.

2. Teach Identity and Purpose Early“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.”  Psalm 139:14

a. Help them understand who they are in Christ.

b. Affirm their uniqueness, gifts, and talents.

c. Teach them purpose-driven living instead of performance-based living.

d. Buy books about identity, books about purpose.

e. Constantly remind them of God’s plans for their lives (Jeremiah 29:11).

3. Develop Emotional Intelligence:

a. Teach them to identify and manage their emotions.

b. Use teachable moments to guide emotional responses.

c. Model healthy emotional expression.

d. Use conflict resolution and discipline as training, not punishment.

e.  Intelligence is not just about scoring 100% in Maths. It’s about knowing how to handle life, relationships, failure, pressure, choices, money, and success” – Wendy Ologe.

4. Encourage Critical Thinking and Wisdom: “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom.” Proverbs 4:7.

a. Allow them to ask questions about life, faith, and society.

b. Teach discernment to differentiate truth from error.

c. Expose them to books about problem-solving, books about attitude and growth; and podcasts, and discussions that promote godly wisdom.

d. Involve them in decision-making at their level.

Prophetic Decree: Powers, persons, and personalities waiting for your children to fail, shall wait in shame, in Jesus name. 

Prayer Focus 

1. My children (call their names one by one), you shall encounter Jesus and you shall be deeply sold out to His course, in Jesus name. 

2. Every foundational limitations or inhibitions in the spiritual DNA of my children, by purged by the Blood of Jesus and the fire of the Holy Ghost, in Jesus name. 

3. Every inherited mindset or negative environmental influence affecting my children, I bring you into captivity, in Jesus name. 

4. My children, hear the Word of God, I constrict you only to the path of purpose, in Jesus name. 

5. Glory killers, destiny hijackers, and glory exchangers, I render your activities null and void in the lives of my children, in Jesus name.
