Bible Reading: John 1:1, 2 Timothy 2:15

Memory VerseAll Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness2 Timothy 3:16 (NKJV)

The Holy Bible is a Book of miracles, but also it is a miracle book. There is no doubt that the Bible is different from other books.  Psalm 119:89, “For ever, O Lord, Thy word is settled in heaven.” This verse explains the many ways that God’s Word is special. God’s Word is supernatural. It is “for ever settled in Heaven.” God wrote the Bible in eternity past and gave it to mankind in sections over more than 1,000 years. The Bible is made up of two (2) Testaments called the Old Testament and New Testament.

It has 66 books in all – 39 books in the Old Testament and 27 books in the New Testament. The Bible is made up of 1,189 Chapters, 31,102 Verses, 788,258 Words (not including the Hebrew Alphabet in Psalm 119 or the superscriptions listed in some of the Psalms), 3,116,480 Letters. The book of Psalms is the longest book by chapters. Jeremiah is the longest book by words. 3 John is the shortest book by verses.  2 John is the shortest book by words. The longest chapter is Psalm 119 with 176 verses.

The shortest chapter is Psalm 117 with two verses. The longest verse in the Bible is Esther 8:9. The shortest verse in the Bible is John 11:35. “Mahershalalhashbaz” is the longest word in the Bible. It is found in Isaiah 8:3. There are at least 185 songs in the Bible. 150 songs are in the book of Psalms. The Bible was written over a 1500 year span (from circa 1400 B.C to A.D. 100); over 40 generations. There is ONE AUTHOR of the Bible – God Almighty.

He was the one who inspired about 40 writers from many walks of life in different places, at different times, from three continents (Asia, Africa, and Europe), in three languages (Hebrew, Aramaic [Chaldee], and Greek). The middle verses of the Bible are Psalm 103:1-2 which reads “Bless the LORD, O my soul:  and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits.“ The first phrase of the Bible is “In the beginning God…” The last word of the Bible is “Amen.”

Warning: Be careful of modern day abnormaly. Dr. D.K Olukoya said, “It is inappropriate to come to church with just New Testament in your hand. That is not the whole Bible. I agree that there is a Bible on your phone, but you must come to church holding a book called the ‘Bible’. It should not replace your physical Bible. It is not enough to just pray, you must know your Bible. You must be a Bible reader. You must meditate, memorize, eat, and chew the word of God. It must be like honey in your mouth. You must be a student of the word of God (Joshua 1:8).”

QuoteI. A thorough knowledge of the Bible is worth more than a college education – Theodore Roosevelt.

IIThe Bible tells us that Jesus Christ came to do three things. He came to have my past forgiven, you get a purpose for living and a home in Heaven – Rick Warren
