Bible Reading: Psalm 1:1-6

Memory Verse:  There is no fear in love, but perfect love drives out fear, because fear involves punishment. The one who fears has not been perfected in love1 John 4:18 (BSB)

Another thing you need to shut out of your life if you must live your God-given destiny to the fullest is the fear of success.

5. FEAR OF SUCCESS: Do you know there are Christians who are afraid of being successful megaly. They believe that they may fall into the sin of pride, and miss heaven when they do mega things. Fear of success can hinder a Christian’s progress by creating a conflict between their spiritual values and their aspirations. This fear often stems from concerns about pride, responsibility, or the potential for increased temptation. Fear of success is the fear of achieving something new and the potential consequences that may come with it. It’s often not a fear of success itself, but rather the fear of how others and oneself may react to the achievement.

People with a fear of success may

1. Be afraid of change and whether they’re up for it.

2. Fear of being uncomfortable in the spotlight.

3. Fear of social or emotional isolation.

4. Fear of being alienated by their peers.

5. Fear of being thought of as bragging or self-promotional.

6. Fear that success will change them in an undesirable way.

7. Struggle with imposter syndrome (a psychological experience of chronic self-doubt and feelings of intellectual fraudulence. It’s characterized by an inability to internalize success, despite evidence of achievement. People with imposter syndrome may feel like they don’t belong, or that others are more deserving of their position).

8. Fear of not being able to continue to perform successfully.

Fear of success can be similar to the fear of failure, and it can interfere with a person’s life.

How Do You Overcome The Fear of Success:

1. Understanding God’s View on Success: Recognizing that God desires us to thrive and use our gifts for His glory (Psalm 1:1-6)

2. Renewing the Mind: Challenging negative thought patterns and replacing them with biblical truths about identity and purpose.

3. Seeking Godly Counsel: Gaining support and guidance from trusted Christian mentors or pastors.

4. Focusing on Service: Shifting the focus from personal gain to using success as a platform for serving others and furthering God’s kingdom.

5. Embracing Humility: Acknowledging God as the source of all blessings and maintaining a posture of gratitude.

Assignment: Read the book, “Think Big” by Ben Carson

Quote: Provided your success is motivated by love and kingdom service in all humility, no need to fear

Prophetic Decree: Your mindset shall not limit your greatness, in Jesus name.
