Bible Reading: Luke 10: 38-42

Memory VerseBut Martha was distracted by her many tasks…  Luke 10:40a (HCSB)

Shall we consider distraction as one of the things we need to shut the door of your heart against.

8. DISTRACTION:  Distraction is anything that prevents someone from concentrating on a set goal. It could also mean an extreme agitation of the mind. Some of what get many distracted from their focus include:

a. Electronic devices: Addiction to electronic devices such as TVs, smartphones, computer games, and other devices with screens could be very distracting. Close to this is digital notifications on such devices even on the altar of prayer, or during your Quiet time, or when the Word of God is being preached in Church. A man of God had to walk down the pulpit due to constant loud phone beep from a congregant’s phone which he hitherto complained about.

Sometimes during deep worship, you will see Christians recording with their phones! Many have missed a divine idea, angelic ministration, or a divine impartation during such kairos moment. Spiritual things could be very slippery. It takes a lot of discipline to trap it. Learn to put your phone on silence when you enter an holy place. Fear God and reverence Him alone.

Furthermore, you must exercise deep self-discipline as touching the time you spend on the social media. This is perhaps the biggest distraction or idol of the 21st century. Even well grown adults are caught in this web of distraction. Many of us need to go on a social media fast.

b. Gossiping and talkativeness: This is another major distraction of this age. Many have talked away their hard earned anointing, business secret, consecration, etc. Learn to say only what is necessary. “In quietness and confidence shall be your strength” (Isaiah 30:15).

c. Demand of job: “If a man would not work, he shouldn’t eat” (2 Thes. 3:10). But your job could separate you from the love of the Father. When last did you read your Bible, pray, and fast? Be warned, backsliding is a gradual process. Your job must not separate you from a deep(er) walk with the Father.

d. Family challenges/trauma: Never ever allow your present situation hinder your glorious destiny. Challenges are part of life. Nobody fulfils destiny chicken-heartedly. Learn to rise above every situation. The same scenario that crushed one person, made another. Why allow your background put your back on the ground? School fees shouldn’t stop you from seeking a university degree, or horning your professional skill. All you need is a divine idea and destiny helpers. Distract your distractions.

Quote:  The world is full of noise and distractions. If you can stay focused on what really matters, you can achieve anything.

Prophetic Decree: I curse all satanic distractions erected against your destiny, in Jesus name.

Prayer Focus

1. I rebuke every satanic tantrum fired as distraction around my heart, in Jesus name.

2. The grip of social media and electronic gadgets over my heart, break, in Jesus name.

3. Holy Spirit, please help me to control my mouth that I may use it only to your glory, in Jesus name.

4. I receive wisdom to strike a delicate balance between my job and my relationship with God, in Jesus name.

5. No challenges of life or past trauma shall plague or distract my journey into destiny fulfilment in Jesus name.
