Bible Reading: Hebrews 5: 7-9, Proverbs 12:1, John 15:1-2
Memory Verse: No discipline is enjoyable while it is happening—it’s painful! But afterward there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those who are trained in this way. Hebrews 12:11 (NLT)
A local parlance says, “A child who refuses to take correction is ready for destruction”. If Bathsheba had reacted rudely to the discipline of Nathan the prophet, Solomon wouldn’t have ever become king because Adonijah had already enthroned himself as king. Stop the grumbling and the murmuring when you’re being corrected. Children of destiny don’t do that. Proverbs 3:12 (NASB) says, “For whom the LORD loves He disciplines, Just as a father disciplines the son in whom he delights.”
Some of the disciplines you are fighting against are orchestrated by God to prevent you from ending in fatal destruction in the future. Take that pill of “corrective pain” today that it may give birth to a glorious future tomorrow. If you must continously grow into the full image of God, get ready to be continously prunned. “The flowers shouldn’t be angry because of the continous pruning by the shearer because it will eventually make it more beautiful.” The day the Potter abandons a clay, then the clay is no more useful to the Potter.
Many ran away in anger when they were disciplined by the church authority, the school authority, their mentors, their boss, or even by their parents and guardians forgetting that after the discipline comes the blessings attached. God will not lift you if He cannot break you. Endure the discipline of today, it will make you a better person, a better student, a better mentor and a better leader tomorrow.
It took God only one night to take the Israelites out of Egypt, but it took God several years to take Egypt out of the Israelites. Similarly, character formation into the full image of God is a longer deliverance process which many atimes requires a measure of corrective pain. Do you know? You can be fighting the wrong person when you pray against the person God has designed to correct you. Not all negative things are demonic.
