THE DIFFERENT MANIFESTATIONS OF PRIDE (2)

THE DIFFERENT MANIFESTATIONS OF PRIDE (2)

Bible reading:  2 kings 4:1-7; EPHESIANS 6:10-18.

Memory Verse: When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom. Proverbs 11:2

Regardless of how it manifests, pride makes you go alone when you should take others along. When pride attacks a Christian, instead of calling on two or three ministers to join hands with him, it whispers “If you call them it will mean you’re lesser than them”. The devil defeats such a person in his pride.

It is pride manifesting as arrogance when a student knows he /she is weak in a particular subject but cannot ask his course mate for some tutorials. Such a student would rather go into the examination hall with some “cheats” thereby, opening himself to imminent ridicule.

It is pride, manifesting as ego that makes believers think that the campus president is a student just like himself and where he needs someone to pray for him, he says, “I can handle it alone, I don’t need to call anybody for help, neither do I need to tell my parents”. That was what happened to the son of the prophet in 2 Kings 4:1-7; he shouldn’t have died in his financial crisis but he succumbed to the demon of “I can handle this alone!”

There are some battles that you are not meant to fight alone. The goal of pride is to separate you from needed help. Our Lord Jesus asked three of his disciples to watch with him for an hour. Don’t let the devil isolate you to destroy you.

Why showcase your new snickers, and designer label school bag? Must you do that? It is more honourable you allow people discover you than to show off what you have with your own hands (Prov. 27:2).

A man who has conquered pride flees from these words – “I, me, myself”. He longs for the collective good of others.

Quote:  The proud sees and hate pride in others but not in himself.

Prophetic Word: Receive your deliverance from self-inflicted scorpion called Pride.

Prayer Focus

  1. I break away from the grip of pride in my heart, in Jesus name.
  2. Holy Spirit, purge my life from every manifestation of pride, in Jesus name.
  3. O Lord, break me and use me, in Jesus name.
  4. I receive a heart of humility, in Jesus name. Amen
