Bible Reading: John 15:10 -17
Memory Verse: There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friend. John 15:13 (NLT)
Ernest Gordon, telling of his experience as a prisoner of war (POW), related howafter work one evening, a guard noticed a shovel missing. Insisting one of the prisoners had stolen it. He screamed for the guilty party to come forward. Then he prepared to kill them one by one till someone confessed. Suddenly, a Scottish soldier broke rank, stood to attention and said, “I did it.” The guard beat him to death on the spot. When he had exhausted his fury, the other POWs picked up their friend’s body along with their tools and returned to camp. At that point, the shovels were recounted. The guard was wrong. None was missing!
What kind of person would take the blame for something he did not do? Christ! We can understand a soul dying for a person worth dying for… how awesome! Noble could inspire us to selfless sacrifice. But God put his love on the line to us by offering His son while we were of no use whatever to Him (Rom. 5:7-8). Think about it: God piled everything we have done wrong (Isa 53:6) on him; hence, the only “Mediator who can reconcile God and man (1 Tim. 2:5)
Can I introduce you to a person who paid a price he did not owe? Can I tell you of a friend who stoops low that you may inherit an eternal glory? Can I tell you of a Master who stripped himself naked that you may be clothed in royal diadem. He did nothing yet paid for all. He was stoned, bruised, spat upon, nailed, and ridiculed yet, a man without sin. He died in your place for your redemption, deliverance and salvation. You know the best you can give back to Him. Your life! Are you saved?
Quote: His life for your life. What will you give back?
Prophetic Decree: May you not end up a disappointment in Jesus name.
Prayer Focus:
Father I am ashamed of my kind of life yet, I see your amazing love bringing me closest to the throne of grace. This is an unprecedented grace!
