THE RESTRAINING POWER OF VISION

THE RESTRAINING POWER OF VISION

Bible Reading: Proverbs 29:18, 21:17

Memory Verse:  He who loves [only selfish] pleasure will become a poor man; He who loves and is devoted to wine and [olive] oil will not become rich. Proverbs21:17(AMP)

Vision is the ability to think or plan the future with imagination or wisdom. Vision is the mental picture of a desired future. Vision does not only tell us what to do, your vision should also tell you what not to do. Your vision in Year 2022 should put a measure of restrain on you. To restrain means to prevent (someone or something) from doing something; it means to keep under control or within limits. It also means to control a strong urge or emotion.

To restrain also means to be moderate, to limit, to set a boundary, and to deny yourself of certain liberty. If you must fulfill your divine visions borne out of your time out with God in personal meditation or in a retreat, you must put a measure of restrain on yourself. You can’t be going somewhere important and behave anyhow. Just like a woman pregnant of a child can’t eat, walk or dress anyhow because of the unborn child, similarly, a person who is pregnant with a vision can’t live or behave anyhow.

He is under certain restraints in order to avoid a still birth. Not all open doors are divine doors. Not all opportunities are going in the direction of your vision. Even the devil also appears as an angel of light. When a student who is meant to subject himself to hours of study is sleeping more than necessary, it shows he lacks restraints. When you spend the money meant for your business on family clothes in order to meet up with other family members on the occasion of the fifth year remembrance of your grandmother, it shows your vision lacks restraints. Are you going to the market to do some shopping? Start by budgeting. It will restrain you from impulse buying.

Quote:  Vision without restraints is like a house without doors.
