Bible reading: Matthew 6:24-34
Memory Verse: Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? Matthew 6:25(KJV)
By God’s grace, I have been privileged by God to enter into various offices especially in the public sector, to sign some documents, collect some receipts, etc.
Humm… my observations are pathetic. There is a common spirit at work in all these offices. It is called the spirit of Mammon.
What explanations do you give when you have paid the statutory payment required by the government into a bank and the receipt to be collected in one of the government parastatal seems elusive. You go there everyday only to be turned down with various flimsy excuses simply because you have refused to “play game.”
Why should a file stay on a table for many days running to several months and sometimes years when it can be signed and sent to appropriate quarters for execution? Why frustrate the efforts of people who want to make legitimate living.
Sometimes, a ransom of a million Naira could be levied as “miscellaneous expenses” before a document could be signed by a senior officer. This atimes could be more.
The sad truth is that Christians are imbibing these spirits too. With big Bibles and devotionals on their office tables yet, they strangulate the lives of others who approach them for a service they are being paid to render!
I hope you will not join the bandwagon of these types of people. Beware, lest the wrath of God come upon you suddenly. Money made from illegitimate sources causing pain to others are cursed and can never be used profitably. Fear God and protect your destiny.
Quote: The love of money is the root of all evil.
Prophetic Word: I curse the spirit of Mammon in your life in Jesus name.
Prayer Focus
- Every spirit of mammon in my life, come out by fire, in the name of Jesus.
- Holy Spirit, empower me never to love the world, its affections and lust, in Jesus name.
