Bible Reading: Luke 5:1-6, 6:38
Memory Verse: Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained
angels unawares. Hebrews 13:2

An unemployed graduate woke up one morning and checked his pocket. All he had left
was $5. He decided he was going to use the money buy some food and wait for the time
to die. He was so frustrated because of his inability to find a job. He had no one to help
him. He bought the food and as he settled down to eat, an old man and two small children
approached him and asked if he could be benevolent to give them some food. They had
not eaten in almost a week. The graduate looked at them. They were so skinny and
malnourished. With the last piece of compassion left in him, he let go of his last meal. The
old man and the children prayed that God would bless and prosper him and handed over
a very old coin to him.

Without money, work and food, the young man went under a bridge to rest and wait for
the hour of death. He was about to fall asleep when he saw an old newspaper on the
floor. He picked it up, and suddenly read an advertisement for those who had old coins;
they should take them in a certain direction. When he arrived at the place, he gave the
coin to the owner of the place. The owner shouted, pulled out a large book and showed
the young graduate a photo. It was the same coin whose value was 3 million dollars. The
young graduate was very excited while the owner gave him a bank card for the 3 million.
The young man collected the money and went in search of the old man and the children.
They were no where to be found but left a note which read: “You gave us everything you
had, and we have rewarded you with the coin”. Signed: God the Father, Son and Holy
Spirit.

Lesson: You cannot out-give God. Give even when it is not convenient.
