Bible Reading: Hebrews 12: 2-3

Memory VerseKeeping our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith. For the joy that lay before him, he endured the cross, despising the shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:2 (CSB)

While rounding off his speech in Harrow School on October 29, 1941. Prime Minister Winston Churchill said: “Never give in. Never give in. Never, never, never, never–in nothing, great or small, large or petty–never give in, except to convictions of honor and good sense. Never yield to force. Never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy.” These words are still so true in our days. They convey the true meaning of the word Perseverance and Resilience. The path of least distraction or least trouble usually doesn’t yield much fruit. Perseverance is the ability to stay on course despite difficulties, failure, or opposition. While resilience is the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties. Resilience also talks about mental toughness.

In the pursuance of your destiny dreams and visions for this year 2023, get ready to embrace these two sterling qualities especially at the edge of your breakthrough. Save for the grace of God and understanding of these very important virtues, even our Lord Jesus Christ almost turned back on his way to the Cross when He said, “Father, if you are willing, please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.” Luke 22:42 (NLT)

Little wonder Steve Maraboli said, “Life doesn’t get easier or more forgiving, we get stronger and more resilient.” There has never been any great fear ever achieved without the virtue of perseverance and resilience. The path of little or no resistance often does not generate so great a reward.

You don’t stop when you are tired, you stop when you are through. 98% is not good enough. Place a high-performance demand on yourself. “Hold yourself responsible for a higher standard than anybody else expects of you. Never excuse yourself. Never pity yourself. Be a hard master to yourself-and be lenient to everybody else.” ― Henry Ward Beecher. Be ready to stretch yourself to the maximum, and fight for your dreams and visions till they manifest.
