Bible Reading: Matthew 13: 1-9, 19

Memory Verse:  When anyone hears the word of the kingdom, and does not understand it, then the wicked one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is he who received seed by the wayside Matthew 13:19 (NKJV)

Matthew 13 talks about the parable of the sower. It describes the heart of men as it relates to the Word of God and categorizes it into four. One of such classifications is the Way Side heart.

Take a very careful reading of our memory verse again. The first thing Philip asked the Ethiopian Eunuch was “Do you understand what you are reading?”(Acts 8:30). It is an exercise in futility when you read the Bible and you do not understand. It is a share waste of time. Hence, you must always invite the Holy Spirit to “move over His words” and interpret them to you if you do not want to have a “way side heart”.

These are the categories of people that come to church to mark weekly register. They come to church to sing “we are here again…” They are simply church goers and routine keepers. They say in their heart my parents take me to church every Sunday, and here am I again. Your attitude to the Word of God will determine the extent of the impact the Word makes on your heart. Do not go to church to mark register but to keep appointment with the Trinity, to receive fresh impartation, to renew your mind; and recharge your spiritual batteries.

However, God had to send Philip to interpret His words to the Eunuch. Many times as a growing Christian, you may need other brethren in the faith to interpret the Bible to you. Hence a need for regular Christian fellowship and Bible Study with the brethren.

Quote: Your attitude determines the result you obtain from the Word of God.

Prophetic Decree: I curse every witchcraft bird stealing the Word of God from your heart in Jesus name.

Prayer Focus:

  1. I receive grace to respond positively to the Word of God, in Jesus name.
  2. I receive the spirit of quick understanding of the Word of God, in Jesus name.
  3. I rebuke the devourer of the Word of God in my heart, in Jesus name.
  4. I bind every spirit of distraction in Jesus name.
  5. I receive special revelation and insights into the Word of God, in Jesus name.
