Bible Reading: Proverbs 22:28, Matthew 5: 13-16

Memory VerseJesus Christ never changes! He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Hebrews 13:8 (CEV)

Take it or leave it, some things must change. People change, government change, laws change, culture change, lifestyle change, etc. It is often said that the only constant thing in life is change. Those who are not flexible to changes will most likely become outdated and irrelevant. The old telephone has been replaced with modern GSM. Most letter postage services have been replaced with e-mails, the typewriter for a computer, etc.

However, our God never changes (Heb. 13:8). Dispensation come and go but God remains the same in standards and principles (2 Tim. 2:19). The Bible says,  “He is not a respecter of persons” (Acts 10:34b). While I believe that some things can be modified, there are certain things that must remain as standards, and as ancient landmarks. A generation without standards and ancient landmarks will have no legacy to leave behind. Are we sure we are not subtly bringing the world into the church by some of our mode of worship? I get a little concerned atimes about some of the things that are creeping into the Church. By divine ordination, Christians are supposed to be light to the world and salt to the Earth.

We should dictate what happens in the world and on earth and not the other way round. Some of the songs we sing in Church, some of our dance steps and some of our dress pattern. A truly discerning person cannot shy away from the reality that something is wrong somewhere. It may interest you to know that some of these songs, dance steps, and dress patterns were imported from the marine world. Imagine a worldly song dedicated to a river goddess now be sung in the Lord’s temple.

Isn’t that an abomination? Isn’t that similar to offering strange fire to God like Nadab and Abihu, the two children of Aaron. What type of incense and fragrance does that type of worship generate before the throne of grace in heaven? By their fruit we shall know them. A song or dance step is popular does not mean it has a divine origin. We really need to be careful. From a prophetic angle, are you aware that by singing some of these songs you can enter into an unconscious covenant with evil spirits? Songs and even dances are spiritual. None is neutral. It is either powered by the Holy Spirit or by an evil spirit.

When you listen to Holy Spirit – filled gospel worship, there is this serenity in your dream land. What now happens when you listen and dance to demon provoking songs before you sleep? Bad dreams, demonic attack, fear, masquerade chase, sex in the dream, etc are usually some of its consequences. Shall we hear what the Spirit is saying to the Church. Be warned. All things are lawful to me but not all things are expedient (1 Cor. 6:12). Let’s be careful of little foxes that spoils the vine (Songs of Solomon 2:15).
