Bible Reading: Proverbs 20:27, John 10:27
Memory Verse: Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path. Psalm 119:105 (NKJV)
One ultimate sign of spiritual growth is that you can recognise the voice of your Master, you can perceive His promptings upon the strings of your heart, you can hear His whispers in your soul, you know His will for your life per time, and you can discern time and season. “Of Issachar, men who had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do.” 1 Chronicles 12:32a (ESV).
A lady was late to the airport. All passengers had boarded. The crew did everything necessary to delay take-off so that she won’t miss the flight. Her luggage was eventually checked-in. As soon as she came on board, she lost her peace. Then she understood the meaning of the initial delay. The loss of peace was a further confirmatory test the Holy Ghost was sending to her of a probable impending danger.
Because she had mastered the promptings of the Holy Spirit upon the reins of her heart, she again told the crew she won’t be going again. “What a confused woman”, people might have thought. The air crew insisted her luggage had already been checked-in, and cannot be checked-out again. She let go of her luggage but came down from the airplane.
Guess what? That plane eventually crashed! She lost her luggage but didn’t lose her life. Question: What happened to the other Christians who were on that plane? As you begin to grow in intimacy with the Spirit of God, you must master ‘divine speakings’. God may not always speak audible. As a matter of fact, He doesn’t always do. But His promptings in our Spirit, the inner witness of the Holy Ghost, are a sure guide and must be well understood. Sometimes, it comes as a river of peace or ‘holy fear’ as you pray over a matter.
Other channels by which God speaks include the Bible, dreams, vision, trances, circumstances, prophecy, godly parents, through our Pastor, and of course, through the audible voice of the Holy Spirit, just to mention a few. You won’t always get to choose how you want God to speak to you. Just be sure it doesn’t contradict the scriptures. The Bible remains our infallible test standard.
Quote: The infallible way by which God speaks is through the Bible. And the common way by which He speaks is through the inner witness of the Holy Spirit.
Prophetic Decree: Receive grace to understand the speakings of the Holy Spirit, in Jesus name.
