Bible Reading: John 8: 1-11

Memory VerseShe said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said to her, “Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.”  John 8:11 (NLT)

Prostitutes of a particular country in East Africa are reportedly now accepting buckets of maize and cups of beans as payment from their cash-strapped male clients. Some of the sex workers appealed to the government and other organisations for low-interest loans to start income-generating projects to fend for their starving families. One of the sex workers who identified herself as Beatrice (not real name), said “Gone are the days when we used to charge US$5 for the whole night.

These days even one dollar is accepted, so that you are able to buy vegetables and tomatoes and cook something for your starving children.” She further disclosed that she has three children, one of which is in Form 4. The child needs registration fees while the other kids are in Grade 7 and Grade One. She added: “I now even accept a bucket of maize or cups of dried beans as payment for sex services. At least I am assured that my kids will have porridge.” Another sex worker said she could have opted to be a house helper.

She however said locals don’t pay. Dear brethren, before you abuse, disdain, curse or blame anyone, make sure you understand a little about their antecedents. Some people are only victims of an overwhelming circumstance. Be wary before you judge others. Why do we scorn people who look like prostitutes? We look at children who look unkept and we shake our heads in disapproval, warning our children to avoid such people.

But what kind of people do we think that heaven is waiting up there for? Let’s not lose the purpose of life because of what we have achieved. Lend a helping hand today. I salute the courage of those who have been called into Brothel evangelism. More grace unto you, in Jesus name. Are you led to be amongst such? Make sure you live a crucified life even as you get trained.

EVANGELISM IS GOD’S HEARTBEAT.

GO, GIVE, AND GROAN TOWARDS IT.
