Be inspired not to settle for less. Age is only a number. An extract from Rising Africa reads, “In a world where technology constantly evolves, young minds often lead the charge with their innovative ideas and countless creativity. One of such remarkable individual is Basil Okpara Jr., a 9-year-old Nigerian boy who has captured headlines by developing more than 30 mobile games, showcasing his exceptional talent and passion for coding. Like many children of his age, Basil enjoys playing games, but his curiosity and fascination extend far beyond mere gameplay. Armed with a keen interest in technology and a voracious appetite for learning, Basil embarked on a coding journey that has propelled him into the realm of game development. Using a free programming application called Scratch 2, Basil has single-handedly crafted an impressive array of mobile games, ranging from interactive puzzles to captivating adventures.

With Scratch 2, users can unleash their creativity and bring their ideas to life through games, animations, and stories. One of Basil’s most notable achievements is his game titled Mosquito Mash. Basil’s journey serves as an inspiring reminder of the boundless potential that resides within young minds, regardless of age or background. His determination to pursue his passion despite any obstacles he may encounter is a testament to his resilience and tenacity. Basil’s journey into game development began when he attended a coding boot camp designed to introduce children to emerging technologies like robotics and virtual reality. This provided Basil with the foundational knowledge and skills to pursue his passion for coding. As Basil continues to refine his skills and explore new horizons in the world of game development, he remains a shining example of what can be achieved through passion, perseverance, and a willingness to dream big.”
