Bible Reading: 1 Peter 2:9, Isaiah 62:12

Memory Verse:  But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for His possession, so that you may proclaim the praises of the One who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. 1 Peter 2:9 (HCSB)

There are certain things you never planned for which sometimes happen. Good things happen to good people. Bad things happen to good people. Good things happens to bad people. Bad things happen to bad people. It is the same rain that falls on the good that falls on the bad. The same sun that shines on the good, that shines on the bad. Life has a way of giving all men a common ground. What makes the difference is our outlook. Our mindset. Our paradigm. Our belief system. Our programming.

While one person looks into the mirror of the Word of God for his identity, inspirations, opinion, and proper evaluation, others look for human wisdom, human philosophies, wise sayings, etc., for answers. Where do you belong? A sister was from a broken home. She also happened to be the sister coordinator of her fellowship. A season came in her life when she began to lose her identity in Christ. First, her fiancé jilted her.

Her fellowship president said she was incapable. Being from a broken home, her step mother molested and ostracized her. Her whole world seemed crumbling all at once. She was about to finish as a first class student in the University, but her dream was gradually fading off because she couldn’t concentrate on her studies. Like the sheep lion was provoked by a fellow lion in our yesterday’s devotional, some fellowship brethren rallied around her. They took her back to her root.

They opened the scriptures unto her. She began to confess: I am who the scriptures say that I am. I have the mind of Christ. I am destined to win. I am the first and not the last. I am above only and not beneath. Jesus is my burden bearer. My past cannot ruin my present or my future. I am born to win. Faithful is He that has started with me who will also finish it. As she said all these Bible words meditatively, the lioness in her roared. Her faith was boosted and her strength was restored.

Brethren, situations come and go. Life is full of ups and downs. Don’t allow your pocket/finance define who you are. Don’t allow what people say define who you are. Don’t allow your friends define who you. Don’t allow fame or fortune define who you are. Don’t allow the opinion of men define who you are. Don’t allow your past mistakes or even successes define who you are. The only thing that should define who you are is the Scriptures – the infallible Word of God. That is the only treasure that will stand the test of time.

Quote:  No matter how hard, a lion cannot eat grass.

Prophetic Decree: I command the lion in you to come alive, in Jesus name.
