Topic: WHO ARE YOUR FRIENDS?
Bible Reading: 2 Samuel 13:1-14, Genesis 34:1-2
Memory Verse: Do not be fooled. “Bad companions ruin good character.” 1 Corinthians 15:33 (GNT)
When Alfred (not real name) got to JSS 1, one day, an SS 3 student walked into his dormitory in search of a school son. He pointed at random to three of them and instructed they should follow him. He took them to the back of the hostel and brought out weed for them to smoke. All of them save Alfred kept coughing. Then, Alfred became the new school son. That was how Alfred began his journey into drugs and eventually cultism. To make matters worse he was living in an area that is pre-disposed to alcohol. Obviously, the devil was all out to destroy this glorious destiny via wrong company, wrong association, and wrong environment. Someone once said your future will be determined by two things: the friends you walk with, and the books you read.
If Amnon didn’t have Jonadab as a friend, perhaps he wouldn’t have had enough courage to defile Tamar, his half sister (2 Samuel 13:1-14).
If Dinah in Genesis 34:1-2 had not met Shechem, perhaps you wouldn’t have been forgotten in the biblical chronicles of women that shook their world.
Conversely, if David had not met Jonathan, perhaps Saul could have wasted his life untimely (1 Samuel 20-23).
Who are your friends? Does your friend encourage you to try cigarettes, weed, cocaine, keep late nights, forge signature, practice examination malpractice, impersonate, leave the school premises to go party or to go play video games, gamble or watch porn? Your friends are either adding to your life or subtracting from it. Either ways, they won’t leave you the same way they met you with or without your consent.
Your association determines your destination. Stay amidst friends that smoke, soonest, you are likely going to try it out. Stay with friends that womanize, you will soon start same. Similarly, when you walk with friends that love Jesus, read their Bibles, evangelize, and are prayerful, your life will follow the same direction. Your friends shape your future, and consequently your destiny. Watch your friends. “Show me your friends and I will tell you who you are.”
Quote: Friendship is not by force, but by choice. Choose wisely.
Prophetic Decree: I command any altar magnetizing evil friends unto you to catch fire, in Jesus name.
Prayer Focus
1. I shield my life in the pool of the blood of Jesus.
2. Evil altar of my father’s house pushing destiny destroying friends my way, catch fire, in Jesus name.
3. I cut myself off from any demonic soul tie, in Jesus name.
4. Wind of the fire, chase any destiny destroying friend away from me, in Jesus name.
5. Wind of the Holy Ghost, blow destiny building friends to me, in Jesus name.
