Bible Reading: Proverbs 18:16
Memory Verse: A gift opens the way and ushers the giver into the presence of the great. Proverbs 18:16 (NIV)
It was Dr. Myles Munroe that shed more light to the scriptures, “The gift of a man makes way for him”. He reiterated and emphasised on “the gift of a man”. He categorically said, “not the job of a man.” Sometimes, your salary is what your employer pays you to substitute for your gift. Friends, aren’t you tired of the rat race. Jumping from one job to another in search for money while you fail to discover, develop and deplore your innate gifts given generously to you by God.
You are building other people’s enterprise for 35 years! Welldone, thou good and faithful servant. But, when will you cultivate your own vineyard? Songs of Solomon 1:6 (NLT) says, “…My brothers were angry with me; they forced me to care for their vineyards, so I couldn’t care for myself—my own vineyard.” Is it bad to work for someone? Absolutely no. You need to gather the needed expertise, skills and technical know-how, especially if you have studied a professional course.
However, you must have a bigger dream of setting up something for yourself or diversifying. You need to maximise the business side of whatever you are doing, even if you are a professional. It was a Medical Doctor in private practice with more than two clinics in the United States that gave a University in Africa a million dollars for infrastructural development.
Do you think he will have such funds if he has been working 9am – 5pm all is life? Have you discovered your gifts, dearly beloved? Your gifts represent those things that are unique to you which you don’t need to learn. Via practise, you get better using them. It could be playing piano. It was Afro-fusion artiste, Akinade Ibuoye popularly known as Gaisebaba who said that his organist doesn’t really need his money.
He plays and records for people on Fiverr, and makes money in dollars. Such is the power of a singular gift when discovered, developed and well maximised. Look at the various gospel musicians singing to the glory of God. Nathaniel Bassey, Mercy Chinwo, Joe Mettle, Don Moen, Ron Kenoly, etc., they have all stood before kings and not mere men.
The other time I saw a young man on the Internet with a flair for building iron gates flanked with wood; all from locally sourced materials. You need to see the dexterity in his finishing. Some of the gates are automated. Some have a roller shutter. He designs first on a computer using 3D drawings. Talk about creativity, expertise and dexterity at its best! To crown it all, his gates are cheaper, more beautiful, and more durable than the foreign ones. Why won’t he rake in millions?
Friends, you have been looking outside, it is time to look within you. Stop complaining about the economy. The truth is that the economy may not get better in the short term. Change is a process. But, provided your personal heaven is open, and you are maximising your gifts, like the children of Israel in Egypt, you shall experience Goshen shining as light even in a dark world.
Again, what are your gifts?
Quote: It is the gift, and not a job that makes a way for a man.
Prophetic Decree: Today, your eyes shall open to the project of your prosperity, in Jesus name.
