HINDRANCES TO NATIONAL TRANSFORMATION (1)

HINDRANCES TO NATIONAL TRANSFORMATION (1)

DWOJ Daily Words of Jesus Devotional Post December

Saturday, 3rd December, 2016.

Bible reading:  Romans 12: 1-2.

Memory Verse: Righteousness exalts a nation, But sin is a reproach to any people. Proverbs 14:34 (NKJV)

1) Corruption

Corruption is at the heart of our problems as a people and as a nation. Like a virulent cancer, it is very much on rampage, attacking our core values, and sabotaging whatever efforts any country is making towards national development.

Gallup, the global audit and financial advisory firm– KPMG, and the famous anti-corruption watching, Transparency International has cited many countries as corrupt.

Nevertheless, if a country is corrupt then, her inhabitants are also corrupt. For instance, it is a known fact that some school headmasters/ headmistresses and principals ask their students to contribute money for invigilators of external examinations who would be encouraged to turn their eyes the other way while the unscrupulous teachers help the students to cheat.

Also, some parents and guardians register their children in so-called special centres, located mostly in villages and some far-flung places, for WAEC, JAMB, GCE and similar examinations where they cheat without hindrance.

2) Insecurity

Among the serious security problems confronting us today are heightening religious crises, terrorism, kidnapping, deadly cult clashes, incessant communal wars, horrifying jungle justice, political violence, militancy and several other heinous crimes.

Key Point:  Corruption has eaten too deep into the fabric of most nations. The change starts with you.

Prayer points:

  1. Spirit of corruption hovering over (mention the name of your country), die by fire, in the name of Jesus.
  2. Spirit of insecurity, communal clashes, war, militancy and death, hovering over this nation, die by fire, in the name of Jesus.
