Bible Reading: 1 Kings 5: 2-5

Memory Verse: Wisdom is better than weapons of war. Ecclesiastes 9:18a (KJV)

If you say that someone has lost the battle, but won the war, you mean that although such a person have been defeated in a small conflict he has won a larger, more important one. Don’t settle for survival, you’re bigger than that. Settle for success and significance. If there are battles you don’t need to fight, please don’t fight and if you need to fight, fight until you win. The Bible says having done all, stand (Eph. 6:13). The aim of today’s message is to escape the distraction of multiple battles.

Many years ago, the spiritual father to one of our fathers in faith told him to go beg a particular elder without telling him why? He was perplexed because it was this same elder that insulted him. What a strange instruction. In honour of his father, he went and prostrated for this man.  The wicked elder said sarcastically, “God has just saved you”. Much later, he learnt that this wicked elder had made up his mind to go to hell and he will drag as many members as possible along with him.

Sometimes it is wisdom to lose the battle in order to win a bigger war. Do you know some people are fighting you because you have refused to simply honour them with a little token of less than #3,000 ($7) every month. They believe they were part of your success. You ate their food, they cloth you, they mentored you and now that the Lord has blessed you, you have forgotten them. Don’t say they are unbroken, the humanity in their divinity is merely playing out. Simply do the needful. The fulfillment of your destiny should be more important to you than fighting “useless battles”.

If you are not careful, multiple wars and fighting enemies at multiple fronts will paralyze your destiny journey. Consider the words of Solomon about his father David and learn wisdom from 1 Kings 5:3 (NLT), “You know that my father, David, was not able to build a Temple to honour the name of the LORD his God because of the many wars waged against him by surrounding nations. He could not build until the LORD gave him victory over all his enemies.”

That means multiple battles can distract a man from achieving destiny projects designed for him by God. When compared to others in his generation, David died at a very young age of 70. Even at that time, he was given a damsel named Abishag to keep him warm. No thanks to multiple battles. May wisdom and knowledge be the stability of your days on earth, in Jesus name (Isaiah 33:6).

Prophetic Decree: May the wisdom of God bring you out of the myriads of battles confronting your destiny, in Jesus name.

Prayer Focus

1. Thank you Father for your unsearchable wisdom.

2. I plug my life to the wisdom of God for profitable living, in Jesus name.

3. I receive a fresh baptism of wisdom to navigate my way out of the many problems confronting my destiny, in Jesus name.

4. Thou strongman that has vowed never to let me go, die, in Jesus name.

5. O Lord, I am your child, arise and avenge me of my many adversaries, in Jesus name.

6. I receive the peace of God on every side, in Jesus name.
