Bible Reading: Deuteronomy 6: 6-7
Memory Verse: Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6 (KJV)
Many people prepare extensively for their careers, businesses, and weddings, but very few prepare intentionally for parenting.
I once heard of a man who read fourteen marriage books before getting married. Some people may think that is excessive, but it reveals a powerful truth: success in any important area of life often requires learning before leading.
The same principle applies to parenting. A couple once enrolled in a parenting program, not because they were struggling with their children, but because they understood something many parents overlook: good parenting is not something you assume; it is something you learn. That mindset reflects wisdom.
When you observe families that thrive, you will often discover that their parents are students. They seek knowledge. They ask questions. They remain teachable. They understand that good intentions alone do not always produce good results.
The Bible says, “Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established” (Proverbs 24:3). Notice that a strong family is built not merely by desire but by wisdom and understanding.
Many parents pray for their children, and prayer is essential. We should never stop praying. However, prayer is not a substitute for learning. God expects us to seek wisdom as well.
A parent may pray for a child’s success, but if they do not understand how to communicate, discipline, encourage, and guide that child, frustration can follow. Prayer and knowledge were never meant to compete; they were designed to work together.
The wisest leaders understand this principle. They do not rely on position alone. They pursue understanding. They know that parenting is too important to leave to assumptions.
Knowledge is what separates intention from impact. Every parent wants the best for their children, but wanting the best and knowing how to bring out the best are not always the same thing. The good news is that wisdom can be learned.
Today, make a decision to become a student of parenting. Read books. Seek godly counsel. Learn from experienced parents. Grow in understanding.
When knowledge meets wisdom, families flourish, children thrive, and generations are transformed.
Quote: You can develop the arts and cultivate the skills to becoming a better parent.
Prophetic Decree: Let every arrow of rebellion sent into the hearts of your children backfire, in Jesus name.
Prayer Focus
Father, give me wisdom to raise the children You have entrusted to me. Help me to remain teachable and eager to learn. Let my parenting reflect Your love, wisdom, and truth. Build my family through understanding and guide me to nurture the next generation well, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
