Bible Reading: 1 Kings 18: 20-40

Memory VerseAnd my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power. 1 Corinthians 2:4 (NKJV)

You must have read the book, “God’s General”. But I tell you, what the Lord wrought with some of His generals in Africa is also worth publishing. We Africans must learn to document in order to preserve heritage for future generations to read and learn from. During his days, the late Archbishop Benson Idahosa told one of his spiritual sons in the country of Ghana to tell the then President that he should give him a time slot on the National television station to propagate the gospel of God on air. The President said, “Who is this Archbishop?” The Archbishop simply decreed, “I dethrone him”. After about a month’s time, he was killed by his political enemies.

When the newly sworn-in president heard what happened, at the request of the Archbishop through this same spiritual son of his, he quickly consented. Haven’t you heard what Psalms 110:3a said, “Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power”. Another General also of blessed memory went into a spiritual contest with some evil men that held a village in bondage. It was at a particular tree at the centre of the village. He simply told them that the God who answers by fire will be God in the village.

The idol worshipers like the days of Elijah and the prophets of Baal at Mount Carmel cried from morning till evening without proofs. This prophet prayed a little prayer thereafter and literal fire fell from heaven and consumed the tree. Friends, if you want to see raw power, make up your mind to defend the integrity of the Gospel of Christ. You will be dazed how God will come down to honour His holy name. Are you defending the integrity of the Word of God in your office, school, or place of work?  How often do you preach and pray for the sick around you? Put your faith to work. God is waiting for you.
