Bible Reading: Isaiah 28:16
Memory Verse: There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death. Proverbs 14:12
One of the most difficult lessons in the Christian life is learning to wait for God’s timing. We often know God’s promise, but we struggle with God’s process. When the journey seems slow, the temptation to take shortcuts becomes very strong.
Gospel minister Gabriel Eziashi, who sang the popular song, “Aka Jehovah” shared a powerful testimony about a season when he tried to move ahead of God. Desiring to travel abroad, he accepted an offer to leave Nigeria using another person’s passport. What appeared to be an opportunity quickly became a painful trap. He was arrested, taken to court, and eventually imprisoned.
Looking back, he admitted, “I wanted to run faster than my shadow.”
How many of us have done something similar?
Perhaps not with a passport, but with relationships, business decisions, ministry opportunities, finances, or career moves. Sometimes we become tired of waiting and decide to “help God.” We convince ourselves that because an opportunity is available, it must be God’s will.
But not every open door is God’s door.
Abraham made this mistake when he fathered Ishmael before God’s promise of Isaac was fulfilled (Genesis 16). Saul made this mistake when he offered sacrifices instead of waiting for Samuel (1 Samuel 13:8-14). Both men suffered unnecessary consequences because they moved ahead of God’s instructions.
One of the most touching parts of Gabriel’s testimony was not his imprisonment but his response in prison. His first prayer was: “Father, I disappointed You. Please forgive me.”
That prayer reveals a heart of repentance.
God’s mercy met him in that prison cell. Remarkably, while still behind bars, he proposed to the woman who would later become his wife. After his release, they married within two weeks. Years later, he became an American citizen through God’s legitimate process and blessing.
What a beautiful reminder that God’s way may seem slower, but it is always safer.
The enemy offers shortcuts. God offers purpose.
The enemy promises quick results. God builds lasting foundations.
The enemy says, “Take matters into your own hands.” God says, “Trust Me.”
If you are currently waiting for a breakthrough, a spouse, a ministry opportunity, a visa, a job, or financial provision, resist the temptation to force what God has not released.
A delayed blessing in God’s hands is far better than a rushed blessing outside His will.
God’s timing may test your patience, but it will never compromise your destiny.
Quote: A delayed blessing in God’s hands is far better than a rushed blessing outside His will.
Prophetic Decree: I command the arrow of haste fired into your soul to backfire, in Jesus name
Prayer
Father, help me to trust Your timing even when I do not understand Your process. Deliver me from the temptation of shortcuts and self-made solutions. Teach me to wait patiently for Your direction and Your provision. May I never move ahead of You but follow Your leading every step of the way, in Jesus name. Amen.
