Topic:  WHEN THE ARM OF FLESH FAILS

Bible Reading: Psalm 147:10, 146:3

Memory Verse: This is what the LORD says: Cursed are those who put their trust in mere humans, who rely on human strength and turn their hearts away from the LORD. Jeremiah 17:5 (NLT)

The story is told of a woman who owned a pepper soup joint. She manipulated her wealthy customers by diabolical means. She had a special pepper soup delicacy which she served perceived wealthy customers who patronized her. Incisions were made on the catfish to be used for the meal before she cooked it. Once eaten, you come under her evil spell until she saps out your virtues and finances. She had been in the business for over 15 years, had two children who are living abroad, and built two houses. One day, the source of her strength who happens to be an herbalist died and there was no way to renew the usual sacrifices made.

Subsequently, the repercussion started telling off on her body as she began to degenerate. Brethren, you can’t do business with the devil and go scot free. Without God as your ONLY true source, you will regret the end of your life. One day, your calabash will no longer be able to hold water. What then becomes your lot? Vain is the help of man. Psalms 146:3 (KJV), “Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help.” That herbalist will fail you one day. That marine priestess will fail you one day. That sangoma will fail you one day. Why put your confidence in a frail mortal man when you have an unchangeable God, who is most powerful and never changes? Only believe in Jesus as your personal Lord and saviour.  Are you ready to surrender to Jesus? He is the architect of your life. He knew you before you were formed in your mother’s womb. Come to Him today.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:  Obadiah; Psalm 82-83

HYMN:  I AM THINE, O LORD, I HAVE HEARD THY VOICE

1. I am Thine, O Lord, I have heard Thy voice,

And it told Thy love to me;

But I long to rise in the arms of faith,

And be closer drawn to Thee.

Refrain:

Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer, blessed Lord,

To the cross where Thou hast died;

Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer, blessed Lord,

To Thy precious, bleeding side.

2. Consecrate me now to Thy service, Lord,

By the pow’r of grace divine;

Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope,

And my will be lost in Thine.

[Refrain]

3. Oh, the pure delight of a single hour

That before Thy throne I spend,

When I kneel in prayer, and with Thee, my God,

I commune as friend with friend!

[Refrain]

4. There are depths of love that I cannot know

Till I cross the narrow sea;

There are heights of joy that I may not reach

Till I rest in peace with Thee.

[Refrain]
