Bible Reading: Genesis 2: 21-25

Memory VerseThen the LORD God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him.” Genesis 2:18 (NLT)

After 27 years of marriage, Bill and Melinda Gates gave up on their marriage in divorce citing irreconcilable differences. Other multibillionaires such as Jeff and MacKenzie Bezos, and Elon Musk have also had their own share of divorce. Does that implies that it takes more than money to keep a home? O yes! Undoubtedly, you need finance to rub romance, but obviously, you need much more. If the fundamentals of marriage are not kept constant, other ingredients brought into it cannot improve its flavour. Then, what are the essential ingredients needed to keep a marriage? Surprisingly, many times, they are the little things often ignored, such as:

  1. God: Take the author of marriage out of your marriage and get ready for a crash. Can a branch abide without its vine? Can a product be best used without the instruction manual of its manufacturer? Marrage is not the idea of any man. God Himself ordained it when he said, “It is not good for a man to be alone”  Genesis 2:18 (KJV).
  • Maturity: Over the years, I have discovered that provided the couples have chosen to be matured, the marriage may likely work. Get it right! There will be one issue or the other arising from every marriage. Two people from two different background will not see the same issue the same way. Mind you, the way a man is wired to process information is not to same way a woman does. Men look at issues logically observing the pros and cons, while most women process information with a lot of emotions and sentiments attached. Really, there is nothing bad either ways. Matured couples then sit down to settle for a compromise until there is no winner and no vanquish. Maturity is needed emotionally, financially, spiritually, physically, etc.

You can’t separate human beings from conflict and conflict resolution. All singles should know that many times the picture circulated on social media about marriage is nothing compared to real life.

Quote: Without God consistently at the centre of your marriage, marriage becomes a burden.

Prophetic Decree: I command the fire of the Holy Ghost to roast to ashes evil powers lurking around your marriage, in Jesus name.

Prayer Focus

1. My Father, thank you for preserving your Oil in my marriage despite numerous raging storms.

2. O Lord, I rededicate my marriage unto you, in Jesus name.

3. Holy Spirit, please be at the centre of my marriage now and always, in Jesus name.

4. I receive fresh Oil in the lamp of my marriage, in Jesus name.

5. Holy Spirit, please grant me emotional, spiritual, and financial maturity, in Jesus name.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:  Jeremiah 30-31
