Bible Reading: 1 Thessalonians 5: 1-9
Memory Verse: For you are fully aware that the Day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. 1 Thessalonians 5:2 (BSB)
Indeed the horse is prepared for the day of battle, but safety is of the Lord. The September 11, 2001 terrorist attack on the US is a humbling realisation that sometimes the best security defence can fail. The country with one of the best military equipment was caught unawares. In recent times, the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack on Israel also proof this same point. As the Boys’ Scout motto goes, “Be prepared.”
I know you have heard that Jesus is coming soon too many times (perhaps not as frequent in recent times) but are you actually prepared for His coming? Does the message of the soon coming King still strike a cord in your spirit? When Jesus comes, what shall He meet you doing? Many are long gone in their adulterous and promiscuous way of life.
Many are wallowing in their backsliding state. Many have lost their first love – their spiritual fervency, their Word power, their evangelical zeal, etc. Many are now questioning basic Biblical belief they hitherto had conviction about. Many are now paying lip service to the things of God. Many hitherto fervent believers have forgotten their first love in their quest for material possessions.
Many living abroad will rather take more bank shifts and locum that pays more per hour than attend Church service especially during weekend. Hear me: More money will never be a cure for covetousness. Money is hardly ever enough throughout the lifetime of any man. Again, I say unto you: Are you prepared for the coming of the Lord Jesus? Luke 9:62 (NKJV) said, “But Jesus said to him, “No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”
Your yesterday’s spiritual exploits is not a sure guarantee of your stand with the Lord today. Elijah said, “God before whom I stand…” (1 Kings 18:15), and not “God before whom I stood.” He was aware and conscious of his present spiritual state before the throne of Zion. Are you still standing sure as a foot soldier of God with the burden for your generation even as you await His coming? W
hy are some of your old buried habits suddenly resurrecting in recent times? I thought you are long done with anger, malice, bitterness, unforgiveness, and such works of the flesh. This is what happens when the fire on the altar has been converted to ashes! Awake, O Zion! Friends, are you prepared for the coming of the Lord. The Bible says it shall happen in a twinkle of an eye. Like the hymn writer said, “I’ll do as He bids me, whatever the cost, I’ll be a true soldier — I’ll die at my post.” Stay prepared. Eternity is not worth spending in hell.
Quote: When He returns is not as important as the fact that we are ready for Him when He does return – A.W. Tozer.
Prophetic Decree: You will not be missing at the appearance of Christ the King, in Jesus name.
