Bible Reading: Jude 1: 20-21

Memory VerseFor he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries. 1 Corinthians 14:2 (NKJV)

When you pray in tongues, you put heaven’s language on your earthly lips. There is a realm of prayer where words we understand are not enough. Our needs, burdens, and worship sometimes go beyond the limits of human language. That’s where praying in tongues (praying in the Holy Ghost) comes in. It is God’s gracious gift to every believer, enabling our spirit to speak directly to Him, bypassing the limits of our mind. Praying in tongues is not for the spiritually elite, it is for you and every willing born again child of God. It’s an invitation to a deeper communion with the Father, where the Spirit Himself gives you the words, and your heart catches the rhythm of heaven.

Other benefits of speaking in tongues include:

4. You Enter into Deeper Worship: Acts 10:46 (NKJV) says, “For they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God.” (Praying in the Spirit allows you to express worship that goes beyond the limits of your native language. You magnify God in a deeper, Spirit-led way.

5. You Engage in Spiritual Warfare: Ephesians 6:18 (NKJV) says, “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit…” Tongues are a weapon of intercession. The Spirit enables you to pray with divine precision against the enemy’s plans.

6. You Access Mysteries and Revelation: 1 Corinthians 14:2 (NKJV) says, “However, in the spirit he speaks mysteries.” You may pray about things hidden from the natural mind, and often, the Spirit will give you insights, direction, or solutions afterward.

7. You Stay in God’s Love and Peace:  Jude 1:21 (NKJV) says, “…keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ…” Praying in the Spirit keeps your heart soft, your perspective godly, and your emotions anchored in peace.

8. You Experience Spiritual Refreshing: Isaiah 28:11–12 (NKJV) says, “…This is the rest with which You may cause the weary to rest, and this is the refreshing…”  It brings supernatural rest to your soul and renews your strength, especially when you feel weary or burdened.

Challenge: Set aside at least 20-60 minutes today to pray in the Spirit.

Quote:  When you pray in tongues, you put heaven’s language on your earthly lips.

Prophetic Decree: Let the channels of your Spirit open up for fresh prayer utterance, in Jesus name.

Prayer Focus

1. Heavenly language, come upon my lips, in Jesus name.

2. I receive a strong desire to receive the gift of speaking in tongues, in Jesus name.

3. Any clog in my inner man preventing me from fresh baptism in the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues, be broken, in Jesus name.

4. Lord, thank You for the gift of praying in the Spirit. Help me to use it daily, not just in moments of crisis, but as a way of life, in Jesus name.

5. Holy Spirit, please stir my heart to pray in the Spirit until I am built up, refreshed, and aligned with Your will, in Jesus name.

6. O Lord, purge my inner man with your fire until I am capable of bursting out in tongues, in Jesus name.
