THE PRICE FOR THE ANOINTING (1)

Bible Reading: Romans 12:1, Luke 14:33,

Memory Verse:  If ye love me, keep my commandmentsJohn 14:15 (KJV)

To be anointed means to be set apart, empowered, and authorized by God for His purposes through the Holy Spirit. In Scripture, anointing is never about status or title; it is about divine enablement for obedience and service. Contrary to popular belief, to be anointed isn’t a terminology used only for preachers/ministry. You can be anointed as a businessman (e.g. Dr Cosmas Maduka), as an academic (e.g. Prof. J.K. Oloke), for transformational leadership (e.g Myles Munroe), for government (e.g. Nelson Mandela), for uncommon parenting (e.g. Joseph, the father of Jesus), etc. Provided there’s a purpose in God’s agenda, there’s someone needed to be anointed. But, there’s a price to be paid. This include:

1. The Price of Absolute Surrender: Nothing in your life can be yours anymore. Not your plans, not your dreams, not your reputation. The anointing will cost you ownership of self. Absolute surrender is the doorway into divine usefulness. God never anoints what He does not own. When He calls a man or woman, He does not negotiate; He demands the keys to everything. Like Abraham laying Isaac on the altar, surrender is proven when the thing you love most is placed back in God’s hands. Jesus made it clear: “Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow Me” (Luke 9:23). Paul echoed this when he said, “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me” (Galatians 2:20). The anointing flows best where self has died and Christ reigns.

2. The Price of Obedience Even When It Hurts: There are instructions from God that will break your heart. Delayed obedience always threatens the flow of the anointing. True obedience is often costly and emotionally painful. God sometimes asks us to do things that contradict logic, comfort, and even our deepest desires. Obedience becomes proof of love when it hurts. Jesus Himself “learned obedience by the things which He suffered” (Hebrews 5:8). Partial or delayed obedience clogs the channel of divine flow. Saul lost his kingdom not because he disobeyed outrightly, but because he obeyed selectively (1 Samuel 15:22–23). When God speaks, timing matters. Obedience delayed can become disobedience disguised.

Quote:  God will not anoint what does not totally belong to Him.

Prophetic Decree: The grip of self, sin, and worldliness fighting your consecration is broken, in Jesus name.
