Bible Reading:  Proverbs 4:23

Memory Verse:  Above all else, guard your affections. For they influence everything else in your life. Proverbs 4:23 (TLB)

God did not create us as emotionless beings. He gave us emotions as signals, not as masters. Emotional awareness is the ability to recognise what is happening inside you. Emotional intelligence is the wisdom to respond in a godly, disciplined way rather than reacting in the heat of the moment. Many spiritual failures are not caused by lack of prayer, but by unmanaged emotions.

1. Emotional Awareness: Knowing What You Are Feeling: Emotional awareness begins with honesty. It is the courage to own your own feelings. It is the courage to say, “I am angry,” “I am hurt,” “I am afraid,” instead of pretending you are fine.

Practical Example: A brother comes to church/home and refuses to greet anyone. People assume he is proud, but the truth is that he just lost his job and feels ashamed. Because he lacks emotional awareness, he interprets his pain as bitterness and isolates himself, instead of seeking God in prayer or counsel.

David often named his emotions before God: “Why are you cast down, O my soul?” (Psalm 42:5). God cannot heal what you keep denying. Awareness is the doorway to healing.

2. Emotional Intelligence: Choosing How You Respond: Emotional intelligence is not suppressing emotions; it is submitting them to wisdom and the Holy Spirit.

Practical Example: A sister hears gossip about herself after church. Emotion says, “Confront them immediately.” Wisdom says, “Pause. Pray. Ask God for clarity.” Instead of reacting in anger, she chooses peace and later addresses the issue calmly, preserving unity.

Jesus felt anger, grief, and sorrow, but He never allowed emotions to control His actions. When insulted, He remained silent. When betrayed, He responded with purpose, not revenge.

Quote:  When emotions are submitted to Christ, they become tools and not traps.

Prophetic Decree: Receive the enablement of the Spirit of God to own your thoughts, in Jesus name.

Prayer Focus

1. Fiery darts of the enemy fired into my thoughts, backfire, in Jesus name.

2. I receive the enablement of the Spirit of God to rule over my emotions, in Jesus name.

3. I silence every infiltration of the enemy to control my thoughts, in Jesus name.

4. Lord Jesus, break your Alabaster box of healing upon my wounded emotions, in Jesus name.

5. Traumatic experiences of yesterday holding my emotions to ransom, I break your stronghold, in Jesus name

6. Blood of Jesus, laminate my mind and emotions, in Jesus name.
