When Money Becomes Your Master

When Money Becomes Your Master

Bible Reading: 1 Timothy 6: 7-12, Ecclesiastes 5:10

Memory Verse: For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and to lose his soul? Mark 8:36 (BLB)

There’s a quiet truth we often avoid: no one takes anything with them when they die. Think about it. People you knew 10, 15, even 20 years ago, some of them are gone. Not one carried their bank account, their houses, their cars, or their status into eternity.

Even when some were buried inside their expensive casket or exotic cars, they all rot away, or got stolen in the process of time. We all brought nothing to this world, and it is certain, we shall take nothing out of this world.

In the quest for money, many have sold their soul to the devil in business, politics, and entertainment. Others indulge in prostitution, human ritual, ‘yahoo yahoo’, ‘yahoo plus plus,’ Internet fraud, etc.

Jesus warned about this when He spoke about Mammon—not just money, but money elevated to the place of worship.

There was a man who had so much wealth that inconvenience offended him. If something delayed him, he solved it with money. He owned planes—one for himself, one for his wife, and even for his children. Wealth answered every discomfort. But when he died, something sobering happened. All the planes remained. Parked. Unused. Silent. That’s the reality money never tells you.

Money is not evil. It feeds families, builds homes, and funds visions. But when it replaces God, it becomes a cruel master.

Because money:

Can solve problems, but not give peace.

Can buy comfort, but not purpose.

Can attract people, but not guarantee love.

Can extend life’s ease, but not secure eternity.

At some point, every human being faces a moment money cannot negotiate. The deeper question is not “how much do you have?” but “who has your heart?”

When wealth becomes your identity, your security, and your voice, you slowly lose sight of your soul. You begin to measure life only by gain and loss, forgetting that eternity does not operate on currency. God never asked us to abandon responsibility or prosperity, but He did warn us not to lose ourselves in the process.

Quote: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you Matthew 6:33 (NKJV)

Prophetic Decree: Let every demonic appetite for money, die, in Jesus name.
