Bible Reading: Luke 17:1, Ephesians 4:31-32

Memory Verse: “…forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.” Ephesians 4:32

Offence is one of the enemy’s most dangerous weapons against believers. Jesus said offences will surely come. As long as you live among people, somebody will hurt you, disappoint you, or betray your trust. The real danger is not only what they did, but what the offence can turn you into.

One preacher shared a painful story about a woman whose husband died of cancer. After his death, she discovered from his phone that he had been unfaithful to her. Crying bitterly, she asked, “Pastor, how do I forgive a dead person?” The man was gone, but the wound remained alive in her heart.

Many people are carrying old offences like that. The event ended years ago, but the pain still controls their thoughts, reactions, and relationships. Offence distorts perception. Somebody you once loved suddenly irritates you. Their jokes are no longer funny. Everything they do now passes through the filter of pain.

Some people now speak from wounds instead of love: “I can never trust anybody again.” “I can never help people again.” What does that mean? The offence has changed them. The pain is now controlling their life.

Never forget this truth: “The test of true character is how you respond to bad character.” Anybody can be kind to kind people. True maturity is revealed when people hurt you and you still refuse bitterness.

Joseph experienced betrayal from his brothers, yet when God lifted him, revenge no longer mattered. God’s goal was not just to judge Joseph’s brothers, but to heal and settle Joseph himself.

Forgiveness is vital because where forgiveness stops, spiritual growth also stops. Bitterness dries up joy, peace, and ministry. God has called believers into the ministry of reconciliation, not the ministry of offence.

If you will invest in people, offences will come. In marriage, friendship, family, and ministry, people may fail you. But do not allow pain to change who God created you to be.

Forgiveness does not excuse wrong actions. It simply refuses to let another person’s sin poison your heart. Ask God daily to keep your heart soft, your love alive, and your spirit free from offence.

Quote: A person’s wisdom yields patience; it is to one’s glory to overlook an offense – Proverbs 19:11.

Prophetic Decree: Today, may Jesus heal your broken heart, in Jesus name.

1. Lord, heal every hidden wound in my heart in Jesus’ name.

2. Father, remove every spirit of bitterness and offence from my life.

3. Lord, help me to forgive quickly and sincerely.

4. Father, do not let the actions of people change my love for You and others.

5. Lord, make me a vessel of reconciliation and peace.
