Bible Reading: Psalm 103: 1-5

Memory Verse:  Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Psalms 103:1 (KJV)

In one of the Living Waters Devotionals, it reads: “Have you ever had a conversation with your soul about how good God has been to you? The grammarians call talking to oneself soliloquy. And here in Psalms 103, we have a record of how King David held a conversation with himself about the goodness of God to him. He reviewed his life seeing how much he owed God sincere gratefulness.

David recalled that it is the LORD who gave him all the benefits he had enjoyed. He forgave all his sins, healed him from all diseases, redeemed his life from the pit, crowned him with love and compassion by satisfying his desires with good things, so that his life was renewed like the eagle’s. Has God done anything less for you? Sincerely, you too need a conversation with your soul about God’s goodness to you.

The Lord deserves praises from you; not complaints. When you talk to yourself about the difficulties you overcame in the recent past, the unmerited favour you had, the beauty of elevations you enjoyed even in moments of your weaknesses and failures, your unvoiced cries for help that were heard and the timely assistance that surfaced at moments you least expected. Then, your soul needs to sing poetic songs of gratefulness to the Almighty God who does so much for you.

Be like King David who never took God’s goodness for granted, but talked to himself about it, and had it recorded for generations to learn from. Be a grateful soul always. Maintain a diary of His faithfulness like King David did. Let the generations yet unborn learn about the awesomeness of God in your life, and have derivable lessons from your records.”

Many often, we concentrate on what God is yet to do in our lives forgetting the very many things seemingly little things He has done. Though the bills are yet to be fully settled, yet my soul shall praise the Lord. Though my rents are expired, yet my soul shall rejoice in the Lord. Though my health may be failing, yet I will praise the Lord.

QuoteAn attitude of gratitude will provoke more of Divinity in the affairs of humanity.

Prophetic Decree: Receive a garment of praise and worship, in Jesus name.

Prayer Focus

1. Thank you God for bringing me thus far and made me enviably unique among the multitudes in the world.

2. O Lord, please give me the sense and spirit of sincere thankfulness and praise to you, in Jesus name.

3. O Lord, help us as human beings to show gratitude for God’s unfailing love, mercy and provision.

4. Garment of heaviness upon my life, catch fire, in Jesus mighty name.

5. A substitute the garment of heaviness for the spirit of praise, in Jesus name.

6. Sing the hymn: “Immortal, Invisible, God only wise”.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:  2 Chronicles 19-23

HYMNAL: IMMORTAL, INVISIBLE, GOD ONLY WISE

1. Immortal, invisible, God only wise,

in light inaccessible hid from our eyes,

most blessed, most glorious, the Ancient of Days,

almighty, victorious, thy great name we praise.

2. Unresting, unhasting, and silent as light,

nor wanting, nor wasting, thou rulest in might;

thy justice like mountains high soaring above

thy clouds, which are fountains of goodness and love.

3. To all life thou givest, to both great and small;

in all life thou livest, the true life of all;

we blossom and flourish as leaves on the tree,

and wither and perish but naught changeth thee.

4. Great Father of glory, pure Father of light,

thine angels adore thee, all veiling their sight;

all praise we would render, O help us to see

’tis only the splendor of light hideth thee.
