Bible reading: Daniel 6: 1-3.
Memory Verse:
Then this Daniel distinguished himself above the governors and satraps, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king gave thought to setting him over the whole realm. Daniel 6:3 (NKJV).
Academic excellence has been identified with achieving high grades and superior performance. But academic excellence is more than just making good grades. It is the maximum development of your intellectual capacities and skills in service to humanity.
Let me congratulate you for making it into a new class. Obviously, this comes with great expectations and responsibilities. Every first term places a lot of financial demands on your parents for obvious reasons – new textbooks, new school uniform, new shoes etc. You can’t afford to let them down.
As a student, you need to be very hardworking to come out with flying colours. Nevertheless, hard work is never enough. You need a fresh impartation of an excellent spirit from heaven above. An excellent spirit will reveal deep secrets unto you.
You also need the power to wade off every work of the devil targeted against your academic success. You must not labour under a closed heaven. God must add favour to your labour. No academic success without both physical and spiritual inputs.
A Nigerian broke the jinx at the University of Reading to become the first black woman to earn a first class degree in the history of the 121-year-old institution.
A similar feat was achieved by Daniel in the strange land of Babylon. This is God’s expectation for our life. We are to reign as kings and rule as Priest.
Key point: Hardwork + Excellent spirit = Great Academic success.
Prayer points
1. I come against every evil force of darkness working against my academic excellence, in the name of Jesus.
2. Every failure remote mechanism programmed against my success, scatter by fire, in the name of Jesus
3. Spirit of excellence, come into my life, in the name of Jesus.
