Bible Reading: Proverbs 10: 4-5, 6:9-12

Memory VerseNot slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord. Romans 12:11 (KJV)

Boldly written on the wall in the Fine Arts department of my Secondary school was, “Hard work does not kill, but laziness does”. You must have heard of the expression, “Don’t be slothful”. But, does it occur to you that sloths are actually animals? Yes, they are. They are mammals noted for their slowness of movement.

They spend most of their lives hanging upside down on trees of the tropical rainforests of South America and Central America. Two-toed sloths in the wild typically live for 20 years. To be slothful literally means to be slow and lazy. Jules Renard opined, “Laziness is nothing more than the habit of resting before you get tired”. God cannot effectively use a lazy person. Many are working but not working to their full capacity. Why should you have the capacity of an atomic bomb but operate like a knockout? You are slothful when:

1. You don’t have your quiet time daily.

2. You skip classes if you are a student or you like taking excuse over little things if you are a worker.

3. You don’t constantly place a demand on your innate abilities.

4. You always seek for the easy way out.

5. You don’t justify you employer’s pay at work each day.

6. You don’t engage in spiritual exercise such as fasting regularly.

7. You are too sleepy to burn the midnight oil.

8. You are unwilling to pray or read at night.

9. You are living a life void of evangelism.

10. You don’t participate in any team work.

11. You are mentally lazy. You’re unwilling to think deep in order to profer solution.

12. You sleep too much and work too less.

13. You don’t exercise your body regularly.

14. You underwork.

Brethren, if this year must be a year of greater glory, then you must free yourself from all spiritual, physical, emotional, and psychological slothfulness. Permit me to come to a conclusion in the words of Anne Frank: “Laziness may appear attractive, but work gives satisfaction”.

Quote Life is too short for one to stay indoors, watch TV, doze off, and snore – MichaelBasseyJohnson.

Prophetic Decree: I shake off every beast of slothfulness into the fire, in Jesus name.

Prayer Focus

1. The God that holds the whole world in His hands, I thank You.

2. I receive grace to work smart in  God’s grace this Year 2022, in Jesus name.

3. I shake off every slothful spirit out of my life, in Jesus name.

4. Holy Spirit, please give me a right mind, a healthy body, and a vibrant spirit this year, in Jesus name.

5. Holy Ghost, rejuvenate my mortal body, in Jesus name.

We live in an age where content is constant and consumption is effortless. A scroll here, a post there, and before we know it, ideas have entered our minds, shaped our expectations, and subtly adjusted our values. Not every message we consume is evil on the surface, but not every message is eternal in nature either....

GUARD YOUR HEART WITH EMOTIONAL WISDOM (1)

God did not create us as emotionless beings. He gave us emotions as signals, not as masters. Emotional awareness is the ability to recognise what is happening inside you. Emotional intelligence is the wisdom to respond in a godly, disciplined way rather than reacting in the heat of the moment...
