Bible Reading: Matthew 20: 26-28

Memory Verse: And David shepherded them with integrity of heart; with skillful hands he led them. Psalm 78:72 (NIV)

A mentor said the root cause of desperation especially amongst the blacks can be traced to pre-colonial and the post-colonial era where a few people control the wealth of the vast majority. In those days, poverty was weaponized. Consequently, the larger majority struggle in desperation to get the scarce remaining resources needed to satisfy many human wants. Take a look at it from another perspective. When the palliative meant to cushion the effect of the lockdown in a particular country were under lock and key in a warehouse for so long without any tangible reasons, the populace began to have suspicions about a foul play. Will you blame the hunger-striken populace for breaking into the warehouse while their children die of hunger?

If civil servants are confident that their pensions will be paid when they retire as at when due without any need to ever carry placards in protest, perhaps they will be less greedy, wouldn’t abuse power and wouldn’t embezzle funds while in active service. After 35 years of active service to one’s motherland, why should a worker die at home because he is unable to pay his hospital bills due to unpaid pension and gratuity? Yes, covetousness is at the heart of desperation, however, we must speak wisdom and justice to those in power. Let those that have ears hear what the Spirit is saying. Selah

Disclaimer: Today’s devotional is not supporting unruly behaviour, abuse of office, or embezzlement of public funds amongst citizenry. We preach holiness (Heb. 12:14). However, it is a wake up call to those in power to sit up. Please tell them that they are accountable to God both in time, and in eternity.

QuoteIf the standard of living of the populace depreciate, then, your leadership is not only faulty, but questionable.

Prophetic Decree:  Let the wind from heaven blow away like chaff all bad leaders, in Jesus name.
