Bible Reading: Proverbs 10:4, Acts 24:25

Memory Verse:  Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring. Proverbs 27:1 (NIV)

Dr. Myles Munroe of blessed memory talked extensively on this. He said: The graveyard is the richest place on earth, not because of the gold in the ground but because of the dreams, books, businesses, and callings buried with those who never maximised their potential. You were not created just to exist. You were born to express purpose and reflect the glory of God. But that won’t happen by accident. Growth must be intentional. Purpose will remain untapped potential if you never take responsibility for personal growth. You must decide, on a daily basis, to become a better version of yourself.

What are the pitfalls to watch out for in order to become a better version of yourself?

1. The Danger of Procrastination: Procrastination is the act of delaying or postponing tasks, often until the last minute or past a deadline, despite knowing there will be negative consequences for doing so. Procrastination delays destiny. Proverbs 27:1 (NIV) says, “Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring.” Many people silently convince themselves that “tomorrow is a better day to change.” But the truth is: delay is disobedience. Consider Felix, the Roman governor who heard Paul preach about righteousness and self-control: “As Paul talked about righteousness, self-control and the judgment to come, Felix was afraid and said, ‘That’s enough for now! You may leave. When I find it convenient, I will send for you.’” Acts 24:25 (NIV). Felix postponed the call to transformation. We never heard of his conversion. He delayed and may have missed eternal purpose. Every time you say “later” to God’s prompting, you risk closing the door to change. Don’t wait for a more “convenient” season to grow. It may never come.

One of the most dangerous lies you can tell yourself is, “I’ll start tomorrow.” Tomorrow has robbed more people of their destiny than failure ever did. You keep telling yourself that you’ll start the business next month, fix your marriage next week, begin studying tomorrow, or finally leave that toxic habit behind someday. But tomorrow never comes for the person who is unwilling to move today.

Procrastination is not a time management issue. It is a spiritual issue. It is the quiet, internal agreement you make with fear and comfort that convinces you that delay is safer than change. But every day you delay growth, you extend your season of mediocrity.

The graveyard is full of people who waited for a better time to become better people. Don’t add to that number.

QuoteYou cannot escape the responsibility of tomorrow by evading it today – Abraham Lincoln.
