NEGATIVE ADDICTIONS OF THE 21ST CENTURY

Bible reading: 1 Corinthians 6:12-20.

Memory Verse: You say, “I am allowed to do anything”–but not everything is good for you. And even though “I am allowed to do anything,” I must not become a slave to anything.

1 Corinthians 6:12 (NLT)

Addiction is a condition of being uncontrollably used to a particular substance or activity.

It is important to know and stress the word “substance “as in the case of drugs and “activity” as in the case of games e.g. computer games.

A student goes out of his class everyday during school hours to play video game. Playing games is an activity which isn’t wrong in itself but, in this case, due to its wrong timing, is gradually turning into a negative addiction.

The Bible says the devil also appears like an angel of light hence, you’ve got to be sensitive and watchful else, an activity carved out to be for your recreation soon becomes a bad addiction and robs you of your destiny.

This technology age must be well handled. Freedom to access the internet must be well guarded. Ask yourself:

  1. What do I spend my time doing on the internet – Chatting, downloading games, “facebooking “, “whatsapping”, “twittering”?
  2. Is the hours spent really worth it?
  3. What are the gains or losses?

A sincere answer will suggest if you’re addicted doing the right or wrong things.

Anything could become an addiction if not well checked. Your phone, reading newspaper, drugs, electronic games, cartoon, season films, video games, tv soap operas, ludo game, football, energy drinks, soft drinks, music, etc. Such things, if not well managed could control, cage and manipulate your time and life.

Quote: Watch out for modern day slavery.

Prophetic Word: Receive Divine empowerment to rule the world system, in Jesus name

Prayer Focus:

  1. Every spirit of demonic addiction to (mention anything you’re addicted to), die, in the name of Jesus.
  2. Chains of negative addictions in my life, break by fire, in the name of Jesus.
  3. Shackles of negative addictions in my life, catch fire, in Jesus name.
  4. Holy Spirit, help me not to fracture my destiny, in Jesus name.
  5. Power of the Most High, come upon me, in Jesus name.
