Bible Focus: Romans 12: 1-2, Psalm 139: 13-14, Proverbs 31:30

Memory VerseI beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. Romans 12:1 (KJV)

Body enhancement procedure occurs when a person chooses to have an operation, or invasive medical procedure in order to change their physical appearance for cosmetic rather than medical reasons. God is interested in our bodies as He is with our spirit and soul. His desire is to dwell in our body. The most commonly performed body enhancement procedures include breast augmentation/lifts, liposuction (the removal of body fat), facelifts, eyelid lifts, buttock and other body lifts, leg vein treatments, botox/fat injections, and nose and face reshaping, etc. Approximately two million people subject themselves to these kinds of procedures each year.

In a 2017 report, Eugene Gauerke said, “The vast majority of people are unhappy with the way they look. Americans spends $62 billion annually to improve their appearances, but most beauty aids are only temporary”. Amongst other reasons, people undergo body enhancement because of personal dissatisfaction with their own body perhaps after numerous child birth, societal pressure (others-are-doing-it mentality), and in order to be more sexually appealing, etc. An highly revered first lady from sub-saharan African allegedly died after having a tummy reduction.

Late Michael Jackson’s autopsy revealed he had numerous body enhancement procedures.  A popular crossgender who went for butt enhancement later cried out on social media of the painful side effects of the operation. Vanity upon vanity, all is vanity. Be proud of how God has created you. However, people with cleft lip, facial palsy, etc, who have the finances can go for body repairing surgery. The real question is:  What is motivating you towards body enhancement? Most body enhancements are attempts to meet emotional voids in physical ways, to attract attention, or to seek approval from others. These all points to vanity. Seek more of your inward beauty. The late Mother Teresa could be said to be old and wrinkled and probably would have failed every beauty contest, except the one that mattered most — inner beauty that reveres God.

Quote:  When vanity motivates a person to undergo body enhancement, such has become her own idol.

Prophetic Decree: Your lust shall not take you to hell, in Jesus name.

Prayer Focus

1. Shall we all repent of any way we might have consciously and unconsciously misused our bodies.

2. O Lord, shield my heart from the corruption of this generation, in Jesus name.

3. I receive grace to present my body as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, in Jesus name.

4. I receive grace to focus more on my inner beauty, and wisdom to manage my physical body all to the glory of God, in Jesus name.

5. I refuse to fall into any satanic deception of this end time, in Jesus name.
