Bible Reading: James 1: 12-15
Memory Verse: The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure. 1 Corinthians 10:13 (NLT)
God’s servant, Joe Kirby is one man God has helped in the area of sexual purity and fight against pornography and masturbation. His daily devotional, “Purify Your Mind Series” (Part 1 & 2), available on YouVersion app will definitely be of great benefit to anyone struggling in the area of sexual lust, temptation, pornography and masturbation. In one of the devotionals he wrote: The devil is like the YouTube Algorithm. I’m often amazed at how YouTube knows more about what I’d like to watch than I do! Its algorithm is always presenting enticing videos related to my interests to get me to click on them.
For instance, I’m very interested in cold water swimming, so when I log onto YouTube, there on my home page are videos all about cold water swimming that are too intriguing for me to resist, even when I’m supposed to be working! YouTube knows exactly what to present in front of us to get clicks—and so does the Devil. He knows what tempts you better than you know yourself. In the battle against lust, there’s always a trigger point, and the crafty serpent knows which of your multiple trigger points will work in each particular situation.
It is different for different people. In one man, flattery is enough to poison the mind to lead him into sin. In another, discouragement will drive him into a need to self-soothe with sin. Just like Jesus is a fisher for men, Christ’s enemy, Lucifer, is also a fisher of men; and he will dangle all kinds of bait in your face all day long to get you to click on wrong images, or think evil thoughts, or even put yourself in wrong situations. So today, write down your trigger points because, once you know your Achilles heel, you will know how to guard against it when the Evil One comes knocking at your door.”
Other trigger points include:
I. Exploiting weaknesses: The devil may prey on an individual’s weaknesses, such as loneliness, insecurity, or low self-esteem, to make them more susceptible to temptation.
II. Normalizing sin: The devil may try to convince people that sexual sin is normal or even acceptable, especially in a culture that often glorifies or trivializes it.
III. Creating doubt: The devil may sow seeds of doubt in people’s minds about the existence of God, the morality of sexual purity, or the consequences of their actions.
IV. Encouraging isolation: The devil may try to isolate people from their support systems, such as family, friends, and church communities, making them more vulnerable to temptation.
Quote: Satanic triggers are points of provocation to sin.
Prophetic Decree: Every satanic trigger point to sin in your life is removed, in Jesus name.
