Bible Reading: 2 Timothy 1: 5-7

Memory Verse“But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!” Galatians 5:22-23 (NLT)

It is possible to be anointed but rebellious. It is possible to be filled with gifts of the Spirit without the fruit of the Spirit at work. It is possible to be sound in doctrine but not sound in character. No wonder Jesus brought the disciples to himself first to be taught before being sent. No wonder Jesus stayed with them for 3½ years moulding and shaping their character and value system before telling them to dwell in Jerusalem until they are endued with power. Both character and impartation are important, but the latter should be the forerunner of the latter. Godly character (not character based on mere moral principles) should be the foundation upon which impartation is built.

Character is the combination of traits and qualities distinguishing the individual nature of a person or thing. It consists of beliefs and moral principles that can guide a person’s behaviour. The character of a person usually takes time to be built. It takes a process. It takes a structure.  It takes discipline. Our character is usually influenced by our upbringing – our parents, the environment we grew up, our friends, our social circle, and of course, the social media. Our character reflects our value system, how we think, and the quality of our thoughts.

Do you have the character needed to carry the weight of glory that comes upon your life as a result of the impartation you have received? Should this impartation for the grace for signs and wonders, academic excellence, divine supplies, working in the miraculous, etc., fall upon your life, would you still be level headed? Would you still be submissive to elders? Would you still be submissive to your parents? Would you still honour church authorities? Hope you won’t arrogate the glory meant for God on yourself? Hope you won’t merchandise this same anointing of God upon your life?

God impacted some people with the grace for healing, soon they started to sell anointing oil. God, who is a covenant keeping God may still decide to honour His name for the deliverance of the captive, but such people are gradually losing rank in the kingdom of God. Freely have you received, freely must you give back (Matthew 10:8). May the impartation God has freely given you never cause you to err, in Jesus name.

The bitter truth is that should you decide not to work on your character today via discipleship (following Jesus in words and actions), you may end up as one of the aforementioned. You must deliberately allow God to work in you, and on you. You must make up your mind to die daily to your flesh, sin, and the dainties of this world. You must make up your mind to reveal only Jesus in words and actions.

Quote:  You can’t get what you need to get by maturity through impartation. Maturity of character comes by making good choices.

Prophetic Decree: May the Holy Ghost break every foundational stronghold of sin and self in your life, in Jesus name.

Prayer Focus

1. Every easily besetting sin in my life, be broken, in Jesus name.

2. Holy Spirit, please help me to be like Jesus in words and actions, in Jesus name.

3. Holy Spirit, please soak me with the temperament of Jesus, in Jesus name.

4. Any foundational yoke of sin upon my neck, be broken, in Jesus name.

5. Holy Spirit, help me to be a Christ-like model in words and actions, in Jesus name.
